The Renaults were almost sputtering at the finish line... :D

Villeneuve's having a bad weekend, i think Ralf would rather be in hell...

The commentators kept saying that the Renaults were most probably on low fuel ( light load ) while the other cars were more heavy , thus affecting their laptimes . However I was surpised that M. Schumacher didn't get pole position , he got it 4 times at Sepang .

I just love the Villenuve is slower that Button.

you and me both, if he didnt screw Jenson (met him at the Melbourne motor show, Button that is:) ) I'll go he, just shows that he's got an hidden agenda

Both Renaults on the front row, light loads i know but aint it great?

Question: When was the last time (other than now) that Ferrari, McLaren or a Williams wasnt on pole?

Ouch! Ralf Schumacher is 17th.

Yeah - and he's been slow all weekend, too.

I wonder if Renault are trying to play it a bit canny with the weather forecast for tomorrow, running light fuel loads to take a punt on the weather?

It'd be either Benetton or Jordan, let me see.

Benetton's last was Australia '95 - that would probably be it.

It seems that the new rules and guide lines are really starting to come into play now..

Should be an interesting race ..melbourne was just awsome>

Yea .. the teams have to arrange the best posibble strategy ( 1 stop , or a 2 stop race ) because you start the race with whatever fuel left in the car during qualifying . And I'm starting to like this new format . Hooray !!!

Aye F1 is starting to shape up again (it's been a long time comming)
Lets see if Ferrari don't balls this race up  And that their car holds together

But as you can tell from the flag Im a coulthard man i really do hope he does well this year ..
I think it's about time he got a good result ..,

Im not just saying that because im scottish but he is a damn fine driver..

BTW are the Qualifiers being rerun today???

What do you mean ? Anyway I'll try to tell what I know . There are 2 qualifying sessions , the one on Friday determines the starting order for the Saturday qualifying .

The car which records the fastest time on Friday will start last on Saturday ( One-shot qualifying :D )

The Saturday qualifying is the one which is final , meaning that it will be the starting line-up for Sunday's race .

P/S : Seriously , I didn't know what you meant , but this is all I can offer . And remember it's coming from a 14-year old :)

It's cool i just checked the second round of Qualifiers are being Rerun at 2pm on ITV

I just meant that ITV show every Qualifier, Race twice for those that are not up early ,Late enough to watch them Live ..

I missed the Qualifiers live thats all i meant :)

:O Ohhhhhh.....!!! :O

Yay! Jos the Boss won't start last:D

After the first corner he will be 12th, after the first round of pitstops he is 9th, and he will pass the chequered flag in 5th position:trouble:

Ah....a man and his dreams:p

Oooh...Renault on pole! My man's gonna reel in some fantasy F1 points this time...right?

BTW...last Renault on pole: 1984 France; Patrick Tambay doing the honors.

The last pole for a team other than Williams, McLaren or Ferrari was quite recently, the European GP of 1999 for Frentzen's Jordan-Mugen. Previously that same year Barrichello got a pole in wet conditions for Stewart-Ford.

Benetton's last pole was in the 1998 Austrian GP with Fisichella driving.

Well thats very interesting... for once neither of Ferrari's Drivers is on pole. That might be the only positive to these new rules. So far I'm not impressed with the new Qualifying rules. It'd be better if they didnt have to run with the fuel they need for the race. That kind of ruins second day qualifying in my opinion. Although, if it brings ontrack passing then I'm all for it.

It's not just the fuel part that I find dumb, it's just having to leave the car in park firme (Is that how it's spelt?) with only a few engineers to work on it.

Did anyone notice how the bridgestone runners seemed to start loosing grip later in the lap? I wonder how that will come into play in the race itself.

Looks like its handbags with Button and Villenueve though. :D
