It may make you faster in the straights but if you lose speed in the corners as a result of less precise throttle control, then more horsepower ends up costing you more than you gain. I think that should be a compromise for the driver to choose. The tires, though, should be specified, because it is a factor in your lap time.

Actually.. uh if your good, more hp does mean lower times.. especially with grip. same car, same hp, just different tires...

You're right, but the key phrase is "if you're good." The better the technique, the more power you can use, and the faster the lap time. If grip cars can use higher horsepower to their advantage, or vice versa, then let it be shown.

For a fair drift VS grip comp a 4WD or AWD car would have to be used, it makes sence if i think about it...
the grip driver can tune the vehicle for grip and use the front wheels to guide through the turn as the rear wheels push and make minor adjustments. and the skilled drifter would be able to hold a consistent four wheel race drift (like me).

the battle would also have to be a long one to determine who has a more consistent entry/exit speed/corner time, instead of purely basing it on who finishes first. we would have to study the analyzer data etc..

however, tire type would also be a MAJOR factor.

i recently entered the amateur league World Championship in hopes to gain the CWest Razo Silvia.
i used my 460hp spoon s2k with slick tires, ASM,0 and TCS,1.
the car was able to drift through any corner that was entered at a high speed by slamming on the brakes and turning, then the wheels would spin but as it was on tcs and slicks, the car would actually NEVER spin out.

on cote de azur, i managed to pull a 12 second lead on the other cars and i showboated the whole race!!
also, on tracks with longer turns, i saw that as i drifted i actually caught up to the grip drivers.

anyways, back to the topic....the track would have to be one with various tight corners and links, as well as long sweeping apexes and tight hairpins....notably grand valley.

anyway, thats what i think should be a few of the standards of this battle.

Me and Akina can do a grip vs drift battle a video clip of it. Its just going to be a demo video to see how it is. I Remember Akina using his MR2 (drift) versus my 22B STI (Grip) and we're kind of .3 second close to each other. Our time in Trial Mountain was 1:21 both in the two player mode. But like i said, i might tell Akina to do some speed drifting. I know Akina have been banned, but i can always make the video and posted.
