Group B video 1hr+ of footage

Yeah, I have the same problem at about 1 hour 17. Which is a bit of a pity because it sounds like the last part is in-car.

Still one can't complain after having 1 hour of this footage. I adore the sound of the Quattros, there's nothing like it. Such a pity that there is no Group B Quattro in GT4 to compete with the Peugeot and Delta S4.

The other amazing thing is the spectators, I still shake my head at how stupid these people were. It is incredible that there weren't more spectator deaths.
 
man, holy crap. I've heard that Group B was banned cause the cars got to a point where they were as fast as their F1 counterparts of the day. I thought BS. I'm officially eating those words right now. it doesn't make sense. how are they so fast. I mean they are racing on dirt for god's sakes. DIRT!!!!!. I could see the asphalt runs, but how is it possible to carry so much speed on dirt and mud. it seems they would just slide right off. I have nothing to say but wow.

@Drift260Z...yep, the group B cars really were a bit quick. There are (unofficial) figures on the Lancia Delta S4 putting its 0-60 time at 2.3 seconds...on gravel!

This website also says that the S4 could have qualified in 6th place in the 1986 Portuguese GP :crazy:

The scary part is that current WRCars are faster point-to-point than the Group B weapons. This is despite having substantially less power and more weight.

The advances in tyre technology, active diffs and improvements to suspension make the difference. A WRC corners much faster than any Group B.

I've heard that story before, but there's never been any proof.

F1 cars at the time weighed 640kg, had ~900bhp, had a load of downforce and qualifying sticky tyres. The Delta was 1000kg, had less than 600bhp and no downforce to speak of.

There's absolutely no way that happened as is being reported.

Then what, are they just making up those figures or what?

It can’t be true though … the only thing I can think of is if the car is going around a short-course or something.
