I got ylod the other day, so I bought a new slim. I wasn't playing gt5 when I got the ylod. So I put gt5 in, downloaded the patches again and installed the game data...and I was glad to see that my backed up data had survived. But the thing is...in my garage some of the cars don't have a picture...there name is there but no picture...and all my cars have also been converted to stock...back the there original colour, rims, everything.
This is very weird and kinda annoying...has anyone else had this or can shed some light on the situation for me? Thanks.
 
No picture in the garage car list or no picture in the main individual car screen?

If you mean the list, arrow-over the car, hit triangle and select 'create thumbnail'. Happens sometimes when you gift and restore also.

Had something simillar, not quite the YLOD but the PS3 (40Gb) keeps shutting down when I try and play GT5, works fine with other games and playing back blurays so I got a new 320Gb slim backed up my saves and did a data transfer to the slim, now I have missing thumbnails of some of the cars and I lost my chromeline collection, also got a data error until I re-entered my chrome line number again. Chromeline are all there but still some cars are missing their thumbnails in the garage. Before the meltdown of the old PS3 I had RM converted a ZR1 and it was one of the missing thumbnails, I re-painted it and now it shows up in the garage ok with the new paint job.
Sorry have no help other than that.

You don't have to repaint even. All you need to do is share the car online and that will fix it. Then just unshare the car and use it as normal. Hope that helps.
