Just came home from a long day at work to find that the 24-hour race (LeMans) that I'd started Bob on yesterday didn't finish. The PS3 was off, red light flashing at me. I'm guessing there was a small power surge (not uncommon), and it caused the unit to shut down. At least, I *HOPE* that's what it was...

Not real sure I want to let Bob try the 24h races again. What the heck, I got the X2010 for hitting L35 (B-spec), and I've got 20,000,000 credits now, so I s'pose it's time to just quit grinding and go have some fun.

Hey, new seasonal events are up! That should provide some fun!

check if you have your ps3 to shut off after a long period of not using it. I had that problem with ether the 4 hour or 9 hour endurance race I had an hour left I switch back to watch tv and all of the sudden my playstation shut off. Its under system settings.

if you were to set your ps3 to auto shut down after so many hours... and your endurance race has finished and is sitting at the after racing menu (where you click 'ok' for your money won n xp obtained)

question: if it does shut down.. if the race saved at this point or is it only saved once you go back to the main menu?

Main menu I did almost what the OP did Tuesday I did a 9 hr endurance race Monday night got up and started another race before going to work had power outage (answering machine blinking) = power gulp this happens even when power goes quick on/off. Anyway lost all credits and XP for both races. PS3 wouldn't read GT5 disk until I logged in using another account and different game, but all turned out OK only lost credit and XP for 2 races. I'm using a first gen FatBoy PS3 with a 500GB HDD had been running for about 7 days straight.

Erm, if the red light was flashing, chances are you have a bigger problem on your hands. The light only flashes in the case of an error (the YLOD is actually a blinking red light, the yellow part is only a single quick flash before that).

But..apparently your system was fine, since you could check out the seasonal events. Weird!

there are other things that cause a red blinking light other than the ylod

Thanks for the help and suggestions, gang! Yeah, it seems to be up and running fine now; not sure what the heck happened. I'll check the system settings. It had been on and running for about a week or more, doing the B-spec grind, working my way up through the endurance events.

In the meantime, I'll be finishing off the new Seasonal Events and playing around with some new cars, and keeping an eye on the PS3 for any ongoing issues.

ETA: I just set Bob on the Tsukuba 9-Hour run, and I'll let him do that while I'm at work today. He's run it several times already, so let's see if there's a problem.

Also, System Settings - Auto Shut Down was set to "OFF". Meanwhile, my microwave's clock is cleared, which only happens if it loses power. Seems everything else in my house that's plugged in is made to NOT flash or clear when there's a short power dip, but the microwave is old-school. Looks like I probably lost power yesterday sometime between 7a and 7p. Fingers crossed for no more problems!
