As a historian of stock car racing (Not just NASCAR), it often puzzles me as to how stock car racing has gotten to where it is today. When stock car racing began 12 years before NASCAR was actually founded, it was just that.... stock cars. Sure, there were some modifications (Literally running stock cars would of been a disaster for multiple reasons), but it was a far cry from today's specially built high powered NASCAR "stock" cars, which has more in common with the stock market than it does stock cars. So this series is a throwback to that- slightly modified modern cars we see or use every day, racing on an even mix of ovals and road courses on Saturday nights (Races start at 8 PM Eastern, room opens at 7 PM Eastern for practice and qualifying).

Rules and procedures
The races will be hosted by moi in a public lobby. It isn't required, but friending ganon83 on PSN is recommended.
-The room opens an hour before the race for practice, with the Qing starting 20 minutes before the race.
-The only two driver aids allowed are ABS (However it cannot exceed 1) and the driving line (Not recommended, and can only be used at road courses).
-Fuel and tire consumption will be on.
-Boost is off.
-Damage is set to light with no visual damage.
-Slipstream is weak.
-It's OK (and expected) to let off of the gas (or brake) so you don't run over someone in a turn.
-Bump drafting is legal, brake-checking isn't.
-Bump and running is legal, wrecking isn't.
-Although the race steward can penalize based off of what he sees, it is encouraged to inform the steward about possible infringements of the rules.
-There are no cautions, so drive smart.
-Microphones are on (Unless they Danica and mess up the racing too much) and room quality is on high.
-All penalties are decided on by the race steward.
Pace laps, pitting, and qualifying
After a 40 minute practice session in the room, a 20 minute group qualifying session begins, setting the starting order for the race.
Wear is set to normal.
Every race has a single pace lap, outside of Indianapolis, which is a standing start ala the 500. Pace speed is set according to track. The start of the race will be 2 cars wide with the oddies on the inside, the evens on the outside :dopey:

Point system:
Note that if there are more than 16 people showing up for a race, I will split the room up among myself and a trusted racer creating a separate room and doing two quick 10 minute heat races before qualifying. Even if you don't make the race, you will get points, up to 24th place. More on that if/when we get there.

Could you make one of these for classics? Someone did that once but he went off GTP or something...
Can you give me a link on that? This idea doesn't seem to be sticking with anybody so might as well start from scratch.
