The first picture attached is the Top6 finalist from the Philippines but a word of caution here * One of the Top 6 finalist has a background in racing which I believe goes against the Motto of GT Academy which is from Virtual Reality to Reality...

The Second Picture is of participant Daryl Brady - who has background knowledge of racing and is a Racing Instructor for the only known Racing School here in the Philippines. He also has a license to teach which again gives him an undue advantage over other people. He also handled the Toyota Vios Cup season 1 and 2 training sessions.

Third Photo is still that of Daryl Brady during one of the Toyota Vios Cup races..

* My question is - how does the other GT Academy participants from Europe, fellow Asian GT Academy participants and those from North Africa, USA and Mexico feel about going up against a competitor with background knowledge of racing or a history in racing??

The rules are:
- not have an existing competition driving contract with any motor sports team, body, agent or management company that conflicts with his/her ability to accept the Race Camp Prize;
- not previously held a National A or superior MSA license or equivalent in another Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) recognised National Sporting Authority (ASN) or Recognised Motorsport Body;
- not have competed in any form of 4 wheeled motorsport at a national championship level for more than one full season (the Organiser reserves the right to judge what classes as national level motorsport);

Apparently he doesn't hold a contract that doesn't let him drive for Nissan.
I don't know what is his license, so I can't talk about that.
Did he compete or just participated on training sessions of Toyota Cup?

Also, from reading other topics here on GTPlanet, other finalists have some experience of racing, they just don't have enough to break the rules.

" not previously held a National A or superior MSA license "

In the French official rules it's stated differently, it says "not having a national license". That's some difference !!??

hoho, thats interesting. Good thing he didnt have any conflicts with nissan after having commitments with toyota or ford, that has a co-partnership with the racing school he's in.

probably the managing body of nissan philippines just let it slide, as GT Academy Asia will be a really tough competition. With japan now included, they should be desperately in need of someone with serious experience or skill to get on par with those high motorsport caliber countries.

Philippines on its gt academy debut really wanna showoff bigtime :D

Hi im from the Philippines and i was blessed enough to take part at the asian finals at Silverstone.

Daryl i believe does not hold a competition license equivalent to National A. Which was part of the rules of gt academy here in our country.

Sadly it is sad to know that he has a racing background against us who are just gamers and car afficionados or enthusiasts. I plan to work hard and train hard for the very tough road ahead.

May our country stand strong and proud at silverstone! :)

This advice is everywhere but it's good advice. Try to practice anyway you can on a real car with cones or a race track.

Judging from what's posted here on the forums and from the experience from my country national finals there is at least one competitor from every country with racing background and all of them are within the rules.

I would say don't worry about them, worry about your own abilities you haven't developed and go for it.
