GT Academy Wild Card Event has returned to the 02 Arena again this year! They're offering the Top 3 Racers from Each Day a Guarenteed Place at the UK GT Academy National Final!

As Reported earlier this week of the other Seperate Wild Card Event at Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

This a seperate Wild Card Event more local to most people I would think!

It's this Weekend Starting on Friday th 24th June at 12:00pm to 8pm Each Day. From experiencing it myself I'd get there early and book a slot time frame. It got pretty busy last time I did, I managed to go on and off all day I was putting in Practice Times most of the day amongst some of the quickest GT5 Players I had played against! I got 8th Overall on the last day was Gutted but was an excellent time.

Unfortunately I can't make it this year due to moving to Australia so If you're not at Good Wood this week pop along to this! A fantastic chance and you'd be surprised with what you could get out of it! ;) Good luck to everyone participating!

EDIT: Will try Digging up what Car & Track will be used this year & Driving Aids etc. Last time it was on the Suzuka Track in a Nissan GTR '07. Will no doubt be different this time round.

For some reason I would have been surprised if it was not at the GW, seems like a logical choice. So if you take part in the wild card, does that mean you have the miss the entire event? What is the format?

Not at all, Depending on how busy they are they usually do Slots. So you book in a time and come back, Nearing the Evening it gets most busy as the Work Communters have their only shot and lots of REALLY BAD Men in Suits come to try their luck and walk away disappointed... Haha. Just turn up and put you're name down. Last year Nissan had their own Structure where they had the Nissan GTR Spec V In the Room. Behind it was 3 Pods Setup with GT5 and a que of course.

This year they have their own seperate Sony *Make Believe* Booth for it which is slightly smaller and less glam just below. Sony must have paid them more to Host it in their own little space this time which is a shame but stop by the Nissan Bubble if it's still there.

Shame I have an important business meeting this Friday. Friday would be the best day to go down to guarantee a place in the nationals. I think Sat / Sun may be a bit too busy.

Last year I was a runner up at this event, I missed out only slightly because I was so tired, I would seriously be tempted to head down and have another shot this year, but not sure if I should just spend the weekend on the online times.

I have been in the top 16 on the online times this year (was 8th) - but I got really ill last weekend and have slipped down to 22nd over the last few days. I had a quick play tonight and was putting in consistent 1:31:3's and 1:31:4's so it's only a matter of time till I get back in the top 16 (I need to hook up last 2 corners consistently) - but hard to say how competitive it will get.

The biggest problem I had at GT Academy Wild Card last year was the fact they use Driving Force GT wheels (no pressure on pedals) and really low FF settings so took a while just to adjust to the feeling of the car compared to my g25.

(Don't forget everyone, James Hudson got through on a wildcard last year and went all the way to the end of the competition!)

I was considering this, but I'd only have the one go (have child in tow). No way I'll be competitive if people are turning up and having multiple shots at it.

Wheel: dfgt
Track: nurburgring gp d (track edge real, no tyre wear)
Car: 370z gt academy version
Tyres: sports softs
Aids: abs 1, skid recovery and driving line.
Format: 3 laps from rolling start

I did a 1:34.300.. The fastest guys the days before were doing 1:33.2xx so I got lucky! I did a practice lap of 1:33:766 but couldn't put in when
under pressure.
