GT Classics Tour 1

I've been wanting to create a series using classic cars for quite awhile now, and I haven't seen anyone else step up to the plate. This series will not focus on tuning, nor will it focus on a fastest lap or a low total time. Classics in this series are loosely defined as any vehicle between 1950 and 1979.

The goal here is ultimately to get people to drive the stock classic cars as hard as they can, and then see who drove the hardest.

I don't think I have to say much more than please... just submit an honest time. I've been playing GT since 1998, and GT4 since its 0day... I know what the cars are capable of, and I'll know if you're lying.

I have a real interest in keeping this series going. Having other people interested and involved is the only thing that will keep it going however. That is why I've started this in the short series forum, as I plan on a 5 race series to guage interest. We'll see from there.

Races will be entered from GT mode, and the racer will enter the Time Trial (with no opponents). Usual OLR rules apply, two tires on the track at all times, etc.

Car: stock '71 Lotus Europa (Can be won from British Lightweights in European events)

Player Tyres: Sports (Grade of drivers choice)


Please submit your times to GT_Classics@inbox.com by 11:59 PM CST (USA) September 12th. That gives you all one week (with a couple hours extra) to submit your times.

Submissions will be accepted in the following format:

Total time:
Fastest lap:
Transmission:
Grade of tire:
Controller (DFP, DS2, etc.):
Any comments about the race (optional):

Hmm, I wonder where I've seen this format before? .

It's always nice to be flattered by others replicating your endeavours with a twist and an extension . I would've been pleased to have little mention of where the inspiration struck you - public kudos is so gratifying .

If you're not the chap who recently joined up at GTBN then please forgive this intrusion, it's simply that this bears a striking coincidental resemblance to my Touring By Numbers series ... ah well, nothing new under the sun etc etc.

Oh, EDIT: I was so surprised by the format that I forgot to say that I was interested .

Hi sukerkin! I am the person who recently joined GTBN. Long time lurker, first time poster at GTBN. I've been here at the planet for awhile now though.

I sort of view this series as simplified in several respects compared to traditional OLR. Similar to going to a hillclimb on public roads as opposed to a sanctioned race on a closed track.

A little more relaxed, but I'd still like to see some tough competition. With you coming on, it might be. I'd still like to see about 5 more people though.
