100 times faster then a 2.4 ghz p4. I call BS.
jeebus code, must someone always break it down for you. 100x more OPERATIONS...not 100 times faster. And this is ALL speculation because sony hasn't revlealed ANYTHING about it. ONLY that it will use the BLU-RAY format and that they are using IBM technology for the processor. But I believe XB2 will use IBM chips also...so this will be interesting to see. Mark my words when I say PS3 will be slightly more advanced than XB2. Just imagine this console war, but flip flipped.
XB2 will release first.
Nintendo's Console, whatever it may be, will release second.
And PS3 will come third.
The reason it's going to flip flop is because Microsoft is trying to do what sony did with the PS2, generate a larger userbase just because it will be the first Next Gen Console available (I know PS2 wasn't, but does dreamcase reaaaly count? lol)
Sony is releasing later for two reasons. Improved technology, and better launch support.
And NO. Developers DO NOT have development kits. What they do have is "projected specifications" on the PS3, so they are able to do much of the modeling, texture work, etc, without these dev kits, however they will most likely NOT be avalable until Jan. 05 at soonest, and even then the final hardware on the PS3 probably will not be done, and the dev kits will only be a starting tool. We won't see any "running" PS3's at E3 either. What we will see, more than likely, is a few demo's running on Dev Kits, and at sony's booth we'll see a shell of the hardware, but it will be non functional.
Again, all dates and E3 info is speculation based on the industry buz right now, but the Dev Kit comment is true, they do not have them.
