GT-One '99 and its cheaty tires

I was doing some endurance races and using a trainer I built to view opponent car data and noticed the GT-ONE '99 Race Car was cheating!

By lap 15 most cars had tires getting down to 25-30% life left, except for the GT-ONE who had 77%. The other cars pit on 17 or 18, but the GT-ONE went until lap 22. Found this very odd since in GT2 the tire wear is the same no matter what tire you use, but just for fun I checked his tire code. It was 3933 (F5D) so I went back to my garage and hopped in my '99 GT-ONE and that tire code was not an option.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or the developers having a favorite car and giving it too good of tires. The wear characteristics seem weird too as that car I'd imagine would burn the rear tires up quickly but in fact it burns up the front way quicker.

Either way, I lapped him before lap 50 even though I'm pitting every 14 laps. Just seems odd so now I have to go take a look around. I thought tires were not going to have anything interesting like this to discover.

If you were playing the US version, the opponent may have been using the Exxon duplicate of the GT-One rather than the Esso version that the player can win, hence the different part numbers. As far as I'm aware, all of the GT-One opponents in endurances are just on normal Medium tyres.

Oh good lord, you're right. Silly me, I knew my version had that Esso version and not the Exxon so I didn't even realize I could still race against the Exxon version with different values. Thanks for clearing that up!

Tried a few laps with my GT-ONE version and their tires still wear slower, but guessing that's because I was driving flat-out.
