Looking at GT Planet the last few days, so much speculation regarding update 1.12, It made me wonder. What is the point of the GT Pit stop blog if its not to address and keep us informed on whats happening with GT6? To me, its just being used as a distraction to keep us entertained as PD do there own thing.
All I know is it is NOT what it promised to be, that is an informal line of communication from PD to their fans. If it was, they would have made a post addressing update 1.12 and all updates. Is it so hard, PD ?
Do you guys feel GT Pitstop blog is living up to what it promised to be?

We're not entertained

I guess it depends on each persons expectations for what the blog would offer.
And of course everyone can have their own thoughts on this.

But ...
"Hello everyone, this is the PITSTOP Editorial Team.

We’ve created a new place for sharing information with Gran Turismo fans: the “Gran Turismo PIT STOP”.

The PIT STOP is a blog-style service that brings you information regarding Gran Turismo in a casual way. Taking an approach that is a bit different from the official gran-turismo.com, we’ll be bringing you bits of info that didn’t make it into the official news.

At PIT STOP, a variety of authors in addition to its writers will be posting articles from all over the world. Visitors can also leave comments on these articles as well, but please keep in mind that there may be cases in which inappropriate comments or those that are unrelated to the topic in question may be deleted. You will need to login with a Facebook account in order to be able to leave a comment.

We are hoping that this new communication channel will be a great way to bring all GT fans together in a dedicated community platform, so please come join us!

<PIT STOP Editorial Team>"

Considering that any news items regarding new content, software updates, maintenance, GT Academy etc would be consider 'official' information, all in all it seems pretty close to the mark to me so far.
Perhaps I had low expectations, but I doubt it will ever offer anything more than incidental news items of general interest, where people can leave comments and others can comment on those in turn.

A big disappointment it's not updated regularly enough and not enough posts about the game. The sound updates started well then took ages to get to the final post, and then nothing else has been answered.

Seems that way doesn't it. Very disappionted so far. But maybe they're planning on answering all our questions at once, who knows.

I do agree it's too quiet.
Although I'm not sure what they could add without copping the wrath from the GTP community.
Apart from the obvious and responding through the blog to answer some of the questions asked here.
But I feel 100% certain, and unfortunately I'm convinced it's not the general consensus here, that the Pit Stop blog wasn't created for that purpose.
It was simply proposed as a possible medium to respond to the questions, but very doubtful that it was the reason for it coming into being.
But some answers to the popular questions via the blog would obviously be very welcomed.

It's effectively very similar to the News posts that occur here on GTP.
Create a 'blog' post and people can comment on it.
But of course they need to stay clear of all the 'unofficial' news.
Which leaves perhaps Seasonals news ... kind of 'official' news if they were to post that, so not really Pit Stop territory either.
So in that respect I guess I can understand the lack of posts.

PD's problem doesn't lie so much in the lack of overall communication but the fact they don't own up for their mistakes. As I said in the Mapping "Zahara de la Sierra" thread regarding v1.12;
Even if PD was actually planning an update today and they don't deliver, we won't hear a damn thing about it. PD has been keeping their lips sealed about the slightest slip up on their behalf instead of gaining respect by publicly announcing that, 'Hey, we stuffed up!'. They don't even need to saw sorry as far as I'm concerned!! PD needs to just admit to their mistakes instead of keeping quiet.

I totally agree,in my opinion when that Sony employee slipped up about Zahara PD could have just said then something along the line of: We are sorry but this information is incorrect, the track is still in development and a release date is still to be announced. And now that Nissan etc have posted information they could simply say something like We have been working towards a release of V1.12 for this week, unfortunatley due to the following reasons it has been delayed slightly, we are now aiming for.....

That's all fine and well.
But I've no idea how you know that it was a SONY employee, as opposed to a PD representative officially announcing something, as opposed to an over-zealous Japanese Super GT race driver in the room who was a bit excited with the overall competitive situation sprouting something, but either way ... is there really any justifiable reason to point all blame at PD, or anyone for that matter?

It hasn't been announced, and really it's that simple.
To get angry with a particular group that your own personal prediction/expectations didn't come to fruition, when there was no solid evidence of an official announcement, kinda smacks of passing the buck if I'm honest.
If you're that disappointed, perhaps the onus is on yourself to keep you expectations in check, and not point the finger at others so to achieve nothing more than vent your frustrations.

I don't think myself or @NW48 were pointing fingers at anyone or even made any predictions but just making the point that a lot of the confusion/hype/anger/disappointment etc could all be avoided by them explaining what's happening. I can understand a lot of the frustration on these forums particularly as a lot of these features were shown when the game was unveiled, then we were told they weren't ready for release, and now we are getting close to a year after release and we haren't even been notified of the time frame that the features will be released, which for a lot of people may be why they bought the game in the first place. I'm fairly sure there are even things in the game manual and on the box that aren't in the game, so even though there hasn't been an official announcement it is understandable why people expect certain things to be coming in an update

That's a very good argument, and of course I'm also personally waiting for certain features to finally land.
But as I've said, I doubt you'll get this information from the Pit Stop blog.
Clearly this is official 'formal' information.
And also, unfortunately, for whatever reason and as we all know, it isn't the way PD go about their business.

So my ultimate point is, though while it is frustrating, hating on the blog for not divulging this info. is a pointless exercise when the objective of the blog clearly suggests this type of info. won't be forth coming.

I would however have liked Pit Stop blog to have said "get off the hype train, it isnt coming this week, dont believe the rumors".

Please don't get me involved in an argument I had nothing to do with, @kevboi. I don't particulary like waking up to 25 alerts every morning.

No, not all. Its just more smoke and mirrors. 👎

This thread needs a poll. Here's one I prepared earlier.

a) The blog is fine.
b) I am happy for PD to work at their own pace.
c) I don't need answers, would prefer Kaz asked some questions
d) All of the above

Oh oh, I think I just fell over in disbelief.:lol::lol: Just when I stopped believing in you, you come through Jimi....well done. 👍

Seriously though, nice suggestion. 👍

Guys, tried to make a simple poll. But im on mobile away from my pc and it got messed up, could an admin please edit it for me?
Same title as what I made. Just two possible responces, A or B.
A) Yes, I love reading information irrelevent to
GT6.

B) B) No, its not, I want them to tell us more info related to GT6 such as the status of GT6 updates, patches, changelogs, when we could get other parts of the game such as its social features, course maker and Zahara etc. This is what I expected when they said informal line of PD communication!
