the tracks
suzuka circuit
apricot hill raceway
cote d'azur

the test is simple, do 3 laps with each car on each track and post your best lap of each. dont do anything to the cars, not even oil change. you can adjust the driver's aides as you see fit. i selected these cars because of their price (under 100k credits each), their diversity (drive, PP and region) and because they all fit the bill of a required car to complete the licenses.

this isnt a contest to see who can pull the best lap time ever, it's just to see how we compare with each other with 3 laps to set a time. no warm up laps, no re-dos. if you spin, oh well. if a lap is disqualified (marked red), it doesnt count. simple as that.

total test time was about an our and a half (give or take 15 minutes). i'm fairly happy with the results. i know if i were to spend 20+ minutes with each car on each track i could shave at least 1 second off of each lap time quite easily but that's not the point of this thread.

EDIT: dont forget to add your control device (dual shock, wheel, other) and what aides you use.

i use a red dual shock 3. i had racing line on, ABS set to 1, steering set to 7 and used the auto trans. everything else off.

Abs 1 with all other assists off, Inc SRF off.

That and id be in. Otherwise it doesn't grab my interest.

Maybe also note input device?

It might be a good idea to ban SRF though as that speeds you up and isn't at all realistic?
if someone wants to taint their results like that, let them. it'll make it all the more sweet for someone not using it to beat their time.

i guess i should say what i was using. i use racing line, ABS set to 1 and steering set to 7. i also use auto trans. everything else was off.

It's late here 4:41 AM, so I only managed to do 3 laps of Suzuka in a brand new mercury cougar
I'll do the rest tomorrow!

Nice idea -
You can always pull a "Repeat" of the event with slight tweaks to the cars - Maybe a set of grade less tyres - and see how close you get to your previous best laps.

May edit this post later with times -

I used my old one... which was stock. I reverted back to SH tyres. (But I have custom alloys...) I think it had 40 miles on the clock from two runs at Willow Springs 20 mile Super event.
Suzuka - - - 2m13.265
Apricot Hill - 1m26.398
Monaco-co - 1m45.077
Abarth 500 (Nero Scorpione) 133bhp/18.3torques/1035kg/CS tyres/FF
Suzuka - 2:44.955
Apricot Hill - 1:48.161
Cote d'Azur - 2:07.097

Arbarth - Suzuka was odd, Mucked up the 2nd lap... over ran 130R - but it didn't go red! Which got my goat - I was slightly more the 3 car widths off track (All four wheels inside the white line) - I wondered if the red lap was a myth... blew Casio (On purpose, of course. - and then it black flagged that lap and the next! I reset to do my final lap... And improved by a good chunk.

Monte Carlo - Blimey its wide here! Got two good clean laps... then mucked up Mirabeau - then clunked the Armco at Portier... and that didn't give a red lap! I quit out anyhow.

Apricot. - All three were good and clean... but no idea how far off the pace - all four wheels on the track is... Last bit of the lap is give up on that fast left into the chicane... a slow line into the right/left will repay you with a fast exit and I made plenty of time up the hill and down to the start line.

ABS=0 - didn't notice any serious issues, pulling out of the hairpin at Suzuka the inside front would overheat, but no driver aids and my ham fisted driving - you have to expect a little clown car action.

... Next the Mercury XR-7 (As seen in "From Dusk 'til Dawn")

All times updated.

Sticks - Nudist Beach Settings (Everything off!)
SRF=Off, ABS=0, TCS=0, ASM=0/ Steering Sensitivity =7, Manual Gearbox (Sequential!) - No driver line, No Gear shift warning light.

Saw this and couldn't resist :)

So far I've managed a 2:28.623 in the Mercury Cougar around Suzuka. I did manage a 2:28.375 on lap 3, but I had a slight off in the 130R that would be classed as dirty in any other time trial event, so I'm ruling it invalid.

I'd like to see what @doodlemonoply can do...

UPDATE: 1:37.818 at Apricot Hill, which I'm not especially happy with.

Did the remainder.

The Cougar was a major disappointment. 4 gears... bouncing off the rev limiter... This grumped me out. So I only did a single lap. (I can only grumble and swear so much.)
Burgundy - nice colour. The car was a bit wallow-y too.

Car had very weak brakes... My first lap is always a safe banker but this was in danger of being black flagged for missing a brake point... And I was braking 50 yards earlier than I expected to. Car also felt a bit squirrely and unsure at times. But 6 big fat Tall gears let me enjoy the laps.
The settigns on the car was stock too. 80/80 Ride Height. 1.0°/0.5° camber. 120/200 aero (Stock settings - by default the world famous Portuguese engineer.)

1:53.096 at Côte d'Azur in the Cougar, pretty pleased with that.

Mercury Cougar results:
Suzuka - 2:28.623
Apricot Hill - 1:37.818
Côte d'Azur - 1:53.096

And BTW, I'm running with a DFGT, ABS 1, all other assists off, grip reduction set to low (doesn't make a big difference unless you're cutting corners deliberately).
