Well i will take your word for it that this is normal

I can't see why they made it so stiff though,I am a big guy(26yrs old..always been into sports ect)and my actual real cars steering wheel turns easier.

My wheel was also acting funny when i had the breaks on,Car was not moving at all and the wheel just starting moving on its own,I understand force feedback but my car wasnt moving

I think i am going to exchange it for another just to be sure,Besides it being stiff(wich i take your word on it is normal)it seems to be acting strange in many other ways.It was moving from left to right back and forth while my car wasn't moving at all,I just had the break on..strange,When a company makes millions of a single product a few are bound to be defective. If i exchange it and it is the same way..they hey.I am a idiot and will admit it lol

I will say i am suprised at how good the quality is,Its no cheap made wheel thats for sure,About the stiffness..If my wheel is normal every young kid who picks this up is gonna have popeye forarms in no time at all lol

BreakerOhio...man you can drift your ass off..very nice,I been playing gt3 for awhile but never got into drifting much because i wasnt the best at tuning my setups..I was wondering what car you were using in your video?(i know u showed it in the vid..but i couldnt tell)And is there any chance you could share the settings you have?

I've been searching this site and trying various setups from different people and different cars,Still looking for one that feels good to me.I am going to start altering other peoples setups and see if i can find something that works for me.

I seem to always oversteer every turn heh...practice practice practice

Again what you described is normal. My wheel shakes left and right when not moving at times too... I don't think its the wheels fault, even my older wheels did this for GT3. I think its GT3 doing it, like when you are on a slope, it sends feedback signals to the wheel maybe to simulate that you need both hands on the wheel. I doubt your wheel is defective. Other people have also experienced the shaking of the wheel from left to right when not moviing. Its common to every compatible wheel with GT3.

The car I use is a Silvia Spec R.
HP 383
Tires: Front: Supersoft
Rear : Normals

Camber: Front 5
Rear 3.6

Asm 0
TCS 1

Ride Height
94mm front and rear

shocks: 7 everywhere

Spring rate 4.5 both

The same thing happens on mine. It's no reason to take it back.

One thing I am worried about on mine is the LED's at the top. The one is on (the left one), and the oen is very dim, and it flickers. Is this normal? What are these LED's for? I don't know what's going on, but it doesn't seam to effect the gameplay, so I guess it's alright.

Also, can somebody answer my question about the drifting? Why is the wheel going directly to the right countersteer spot? Does it change with the steering assist difficulty level? I don't know.

The left LED means the wheel is compatible with the game. The right one will light up if you are in 900 degree mode. Both LEDs flick a bit, even the right one when its not activated.

What do u mean by wheel going directly to the right countersteer spot?

I'll be going around a corner, and the back end of the car will slide out, and the wheel goes to the right spot to bring the car back. It's strange. The wheel just loosens up at that spot and it makes it so easy to drift... I don't know if it's supposed to be like that. It seams like cheating.

I believe thats normal behavior, the front wheels would naturally countersteer in the direction the front wheels need to be travelling. You can't just turn and then trust the wheel to countersteer in the correct position, you will have to provide some input into it so actually drift.

thaks for the replies and info about your settings,Gonna give it a shot sometime tonight.

I guess there is nothing wrong with my wheel,I am just suprised at how stuff it feels.Plus how i suck at drifting on top of that doesn't help lol

Ive been into gt3 for awhile but never really got into the drifting aspect of it(what the hell i was thinking i will never know)I would use the e-brake alot and do some basic powerslide type of things but not real drifts,I can't figure out what button to assign the e-brake too on the wheel yet.

Its gonne take some time but i am sure i will get the hang of this wheel and how to do some decent drifts,Some of the corners i just don't see how to pull them off,I think i am doing everything too late when i should be half sideways way before the turn...I can picture the drifts but doing them is a whole other thing heh

Thanks for all the help :D

If you like using the ebrake, try assign as the shift up position and the reassign shift up to the Right paddle shifter.

R1: shift UP
L3: downshift (up on the shifter)
R3: ebrake (pull towards u on the shifter)

If you want more sliding use mediaum soft on the front and keep normals in the rear. If if you still can't break traction, use sims and u may want to lower you hp some if you go with sims.

I'll give that a shot

I have just been putting sims on and going like that,Is this not a good thing?(I think i need to go read some more of the guides and info around here..Only found the site the other day actually)

I am definitly breaking traction,Just can't really controll it yet...In lower gears i can maintain but at fast speeds(like in your video..good stuff)I just end up doing a 360 or 2 heh

I am gonna try your car and settings in a litte while

I just need practice and learn how to set the car up right.

I tried your setting on a Silvia Spec R(nissan=great cars)the back end was staying in the back instead of the going into uncontrollable 360's alot more heh..feels really nice

I was still wreckless all over the place

just need some practice,Its the U turn type of turns that are killing me...drifting the easier corners half way decent

I am going to try and not use the E=Brake as much,I really like using the shifet for shifting up and down,I did try it for ebrake,That felt nice but i don't wanna give up the shifter...it just makes the wheel so much nicer,I put the e-brake on L3,Gonna try this for awhile

Its too bad there isn't a button for the E-break on the shifter somewhere,Its a pain getting to the L buttoms sometimes when you are downshifting and turning the wheel fast.

thanks for all your help :D

I feel the same way about it. They could have added another direction to the shifter...like tapping it to the left or right to be the ebrake. I put my ebrake on L2 so I can keep the shifter the way it is.

I reserve Inertia Drifts for U-turns. They're fun to do, In the video, I do them on the turn after you pass under the huge idunlop tire in Apricot Hill. I drift the car in the opposite direction of the turn and use the sideways drifting to slow the car down and then I switch directions to enter the drift for the corner.

I tracked down someone who also owns this wheel and had them come over.He right away looked at me and say"dood..your wheel is too stiff..somethings up with it"We then hooked his up and it was obvious something was wrong.

packed it up and brought it back,You were right,Everything i described is normal,BUT multiply it by 5 times and thats how stiff the other wheel was,Like something was too tightened inside..who knows

new wheel feels MUCH MUCH better

Been playing gt3 for awhile,Only started attempting to drift for about a week though,With this wheel and 2 hours of playing today in a second gen.rx7 tuned to about 380ish hp,basic drift settings,Supper soft up front and sims in the back(not sure if this is a good setup..but i like it for now)

I have been actually pulling some pretty nice drifts,Mainly using power over and controlling with counter steer and throttle,Getting the hang of it pretty fast..Complex track rules

This wheel rules. To me its so much more fun than a controller...I don't know why i have waited this long to get one

thanks again for the vid and review BreakerOhio..I most likely wouldn't have got this wheel if it wasnt for this thread :D

I knew something was up with that other wheel though..It was way too stiff,It was so stiff i couldn't counter steer hardly at all.

This newer one is perfect,Its stiff but about 5 times less than the other one.

I found out your problem. It was on %200 Force Feedback mode, easily changed by pressing Select + R3 + the left shift paddle. It says something about that in the little information they give you with the wheel.

Mister E

Nope,The wheel was defective

I tried 2 other wheels(someone mentioned that setting in this post somewhere)I had tried that also.

When i stated it was VERY hard to turn,It was VERY hard to turn man,Past a half of turn you would have to use 2 hands and use force to turn it.My new one isn't like that,And my buddies isnt like that either. It was so hard to turn you could tell something was up.

Logitech makes good stuff but IMO when any company makes millions of 1 product a few defective units are bound to get sent out.

Funny..My exchanged one didn't come with a manual though lol

Are the force feedback modes and the option to open 900degrees the only things that can be changed?I don't want to bug them about a manual at the store.Who knows why the manual wasn't in this box...Do these have warrenties?Cuz if they do i got screwed out of that also.

first one was defective, second one has no manual/papers/nada lol

Can't seem to win

This wheel is well worth the money though....good stuff.

:D

Good Stuff man... I'm glad you got in touch with your buddy, the wheel is worth it and you should have one that isn't defective.

There really isn't a manual per say, its a small fold out paper. Its like the warranty paper, and within it there is a section that describes the force feedback feature and then explains how to toggle the feedback strength, however no where have I found in the reading provided anything about unlocking the 900 degree mode, but my intuition helped me figure it out by just doing the similar button combinations for toggling feedback.
