Having got gt4 prologue a couple days ago i am starting to have some mixed feelings about this game....

The handling of the cars is nice, good swaying characteristics, nice under brakes and at high speeds as well, the sounds the of the cars are also pretty good.

The graphics are quite nice, tracks feel like they do in concept, seems to feel more solid then gt3 for example.

But the track designs are real real bad, quite boring and in one in particular one I cut the chicane and built up a 10 second lead immediately!!!

Hitting other cars and obtaining penalties annoys me in some ways, especially if the cars infront of you are slugs!!!

The italian road course was interesting though

Gt Concept IMHO is much better value for money as well.....

I must admit New york isn't the most interesting of tracks, it reminds me of those tracks in Project Gotham racing. Square corners don't cut it for me. Also the AI isn't even upto GT3 standards and that's really saying somethng.

I'm really hoping for a significant leap in AI for GT4, plus better fictional tracks than New York. There's only 1 corner on that track that isn't a right-angle.

interesting.. My favoutite track is NY in prologue.. I especially like the 180-right-left combo, getting the right line there is challenging.

But I have to agree that the AI is way too slow.

I could have sworn that i read somwhere that the A.I in Prologue is from GT 3.At the time of development the GT 4 A.I was still w.i.p(work in progress).
Anyway,i like Prologue.9/10

The ai in prologue is not as good as in gt3. So you can count on it that it's work in progress.

Other things also seem unfinished.

  • The No.2 camera is to low to the ground. With some cars it is very difficult too see anything that is close to the front of the car.
  • Even more than in gt3, the background is very jittery(hope I spelled it right;) ).
  • Cars sometimes look less "real" than cars in gt3. I can't really put a finger on it. They seem to have a different reflection.
  • Rally-driving seems to be too much optimized for the DF Pro, and bumpercam. With a chasecam and DS it is very uhmm challenging.

GT4 is still being developed. I'm sure most of the rough edges will be smoothed out.:p

I love the rallying, well actually i've only started enjoying it recently. I think i'd enjoy it more if I could use both analog sticks.

Remember GT4:P is just the 2003 E3 demo with some bits tacked on.

I can:D , but still, I find the steering too responsive with the external cameras.

I also think NY is pretty good. More so than Tokyo in GT3.

Square corners can be fun sometimes...

I am a bit disappointed in New York. The track is far too busy graphically and makes it difficult to find where to turn the corners. Not only this but it leads to some dramatic frame rate bottlenecks in replays. On the straight after the first double apex hairpin around halfway down you will notice a drop in the smoothness of the graphics, yes I'm being nitpicky but I don't like it. I think PD tried too hard on New York and they need to fake the reflections on some of the buildings to bring the frames per second back up in the replays.

Otherwise a nice demo to get us used to the new handling model.

I only recently got Prologue, but I reckon New York is ace.

It's super quick, punctuated by super technical corner complexes, has a nice balance of track widths, and the scenery is great. For me, along with Grand Canyon and Citta d Aria, it's actually a step up in terms of track design and presentation. It feels like a real street track.

The disappointment for me is in the attempts to simplify game modes and options, and the GUI which is not what it should be, even if it does all look good.

So... you're actually agreeing with me?

Anyway - Subaru Legacy, Lesson 10, Grand Canyon. What a farce (although I do have a gold on it)!

Whehe, yes. But I must say that I'm getting better at the rallytrack. But still, it seems that with a DS a smooth line can not be driven.
