I'm torn, I don't actually own a PSP but I will buy one for GT PSP. I'd like to get the new Go but I'm concerned at a number of reviews I've read about the positioning of the analogue stick, an article about Motorstorm Artic Edge commented on how sore their hands and thumb were after playing on the Go.

So I'll ask you guys firstly for your thought son which system you think will be better for GT PSP.

The other thing not owning a PSP, is can you simply download your games onto a memory stick added to the PSP, basically making it a PSP Go excluding size?

What advantages does the Go actually provide?

PSPGo - 16gb Internal Memory. Bluetooth. Screen 3.8", physically smaller and lighter.
PSP3000 - 4.3" Screen. Disc or Memory Stick games.

I have had all the different PSP's and am likely to get a PSPGo. The Analog Nub on all the PSP's hurt after a while of use. About 20mins and my thumb starts to hurt. I try to use the D-pad as much as possible regardless. I don't think either unit will be better, it just depends on what you prefer. If I do get one on launch I'll do a comparison.

I also have had 3 version of the psp. My latest 3000 model suits me very well. I bought a 16 GB stick for it and yes you can then buy games from the store and download them to you psp.

The psp go has bluetooth.

The psp 3000 has the possibility to buy an 2200 mAh Sony battery. The extends the play time greatly.

You guesed it, I will stick with my fully geared psp 3000 system.

I have a 2000 model and I´m completely happy with it. The Go is just way too expensive right now, and since I mostly play the PSP at home anyway I´ll prefer having a bigger screen.

Didn't want to start a thread on it but whilst you guys are here in the discussion, why is this forum called GT Mobile instead of GT PSP as it's titled?

Seeign as the GT5 bundle includes GT hopefully it won't have these interlacing problems, it's also the model they displayed it on at most of the games show I believe alongside the Go more recently.

This forum has been around since GT Mobile was anounced four years ago. Jordan probably didn't feel the need to change the title, just to create a bit of confusion, when the launch was officially announced under a slightly different title.

Also, technically it isn't even GT PSP, it is just Gran Turismo, which would create a conflict with the GT1 forum.

Well it's not actaully called "Gran Turismo PSP" or "Gran Turismo Mobile" it's just Gran Turismo.

The first title was "Gran Turismo 4 Mobile" and it still contains what this title promised.

??? You mean the PSP + GT bundle. That will include a PSP3000 but not everyone has problems with it's display.

The PSP 3000 doesn't have 'interlacing' artifacts. Its the way the screen was designed. The sub-pixels in the PSP3000 screen is aligned horizontally which provides faster response time and the newer screen allows a wider color gamut providing a much better range of colors for the PSP. On 2D games/screens (like the PSP Menu) you can get lines in some movement, often when moving left to right or vice versa, which appear similar to interlacing artifacts (hence why it was quickly dubbed interlacing issues).

I imagine the PSPGo! will have the same 'problem' as the screen has more benefits in faster response speed and color range than to align the sub-pixels the other way. Either way, in 3D games like Gran Turismo, the 'problem' is nigh on impossible to see. So both the PSPGo and PSP3000 should perform the same.

As MarcoM said, the PSP3000 has the optional battery to be able to carry multiple batteries at one time with you, or purchase the larger sized battery for longer play time. The PSPGo! battery is hard wired inside the unit and should last around 5-6 hours play time (both the PSPGo and PSP3000 standard battery perform the same). The larger battery option for the PSP3000 should give 8-10hours play time for comparisons sake.

I'll get the PSP Go. I like the idea of digital downloads, no UMDs, no screen issues and being able to carry all the games with you as well as movies when I want to do something else than gaming :)

I can do all that with my PSP 2000.

Only difference is the GO is much more portable.
And expensive.

Also, define portable. Unless you mean sticking it in a pocket, the regular PSP can go just as many places as as a Go. And even then some people have put it in their pocket. Mine has made it to Florida, Hawaii, St Louis, and all over the state of Kentucky.

That.

Yeah sorry, I mean sticking in pocket. My PSP does not fit in my trouser pockets, even if it can does fit you would be walking with a stiff upper leg (Had to phrase that carefully!). It only just fits in my school blazer pocket. PSP GO would be much more practical.

Yeah, it's practical, but is it better? Most definetly not, smaller screen, the control pad is incredibly small, only downloadable games (I only trust Steam, thank you very much) I'd rather keep my portable-enough PSP Fat than switching for that thing D:

Yep it's looking very PSP 300 to me the more I think about it! I've never seen one in the flesh the only downer being if it doesn't fit in your pocket, but most of the times I'd use it either on public transport or travelling I'm going to have a bag with me I suppose.

I carry my PSP-3000 in my pocket. I wear Levis 501 Jeans, which heave average size pockets. I bet they would fit your pockets, well... unless you have those sperm deforming (:ouch:) skater jeans :nervous:. I also am the kind of guy who keeps it in a backpack...

Not to forget: The PSP3000 has some "interlace" display issues which 1000 and 2000 don't have.
Yep, an issue that is massively over-egged.

For me, the Go is an overpriced, undersized, cramped-control piece of tech that should have come out a year ago at the same price as a 3000. As it stands now, it's a total joke.

The current PSP 3000 is about as comfortable a gaming experience as you can reasonably expect. If people think the analgue nub on the 3000 gets painful after a while...haha!

I just wonder why they didn´t make the PSP Go a clamshell unit like the DS or the GBA SP so that the screen is protected. Even if I had a Go I wouldn´t just slam it into my pocket or whatever for this specific reason. And aside from that, the snap-open mechanism adds another mechanical part that might break through wear and tear.

Just seen on a big retail warehouse in Lisbon, if you buy PSPGo! on launch date (1-10 October), you'll have Gran Turismo (full game) for free (download). I guess this would extend to other countries.

Had a first gen PSP and a PSP-2000. I actually sold my 2000 for a 3000 but never ended up getting it. Now I have the Go on preorder and will get that. If I don't like it, I could always sell it for a 3000 but I can't see myself not liking it.

I am thinking on getting PSP Go once I come home from Mexico..
Portability and less energy use..

but, is there any differnace in GT UMD and DownLodable versions?

A smaller battery supposedly means similar battery times however, and the Go has no ability to replace it.

And there is no difference between UMD and download other than their delivery methods.

I never owned PSP. I always wanted one but there never was a game that got me to buy it. Beyond that I always found the original design very clunky and when I have played it found the form factor very odd. I got a chance to demo a PSPGO earlier this week and adored it form factor-wise and it's general feel. I was going to buy GTPSP regardless but was agonizing between the PSP-3000 and the PSPGO. Actually using the PSPGO sold me on it, it feels much much better. I can see problems if you owned/liked the original PSP but if you never have had a PSP before, hands down...go with the GO.

I also seem to be in the minority here. For a portable product like a PSP I will seek out digital downloads. In fact for anything "digital" I will always opt for the digital download. I frankly refuse to buy physical media if I have another option (if I could buy GT5 as a download on day of release I would). So the PSPGO's all digital content is right by me, Sony's UMD format was always goofy and useless. Though, again, if you have alot of UMDs I can see the gripe of (re) paying for them again as digital. Sony screwed up with there dropping of the UMD conversion issue. If a company stops supporting it's outdated media format it should help transition users to it's new format. UMD is a perfect example of how NOT to do it.

Otherwise, I'm eagerly awaiting Thursday when my PSPGO gets here. Between Need for Speed:Shift and GTPSP (and life in general) I'll be perfectly happy until March when GT5 releases...

Considering that the Go will likely be a failure in the U.S. (and almost certainly in Japan), I don't think UMDs are going anywhere soon.

Is that deal valid in US? what was it from October 1st to 10th to get free GT PSP?
How do I register? Just Log in on the PS website and give the PSP GO serial number?

So PSPGo has smaller battery, and sure you can install GT PSP to PSP 3000 or lover, but Most other gmes use UMD and it drains a lot of power.. I want something more compatible, also will buy a 16 Gig card..
will this one work?
Funny how TINY it is how much memory, this will double the PSP memory!
