Do i just suck at this, or do you guys fin it difficult too. I nailed the easy one, win the Intermdiate tarmac one no problems in an Escort Rally Car, but i am absolutley hopeless at the others. You guys got any tips for a terrible driver in distres :)

I dont rate GT5's offroad at all, (I use no assists at all brake balance @ 2-2 max & use a G27 wheel) But make sure TCS is off as its a total rev killer & you need to power around turns when in rally, try to be as smooth as possible plan well ahead.

TCS off, ABS 1 if you wish, but SRF makes a huge difference in Rally and I admit I had to use it the first time. However, rally seems so easy once you get it. I'd try it without SRF first but you can pick up 2-5 seconds a lap with SRF on. TSC and stability management slow you way down.

Don't brake late, avoid flamboyant drifting, use a normal racing line if you can. Get used to transferring the weight of the car to get the slide, but avoid excessive inputs and try to keep it smooth. Use the throttle and brake to steer in a drift rather than too much steering.

It can be good fun but frustrating.

I remember having issues with these too. After many tries, I chose to activate the SRF. I must say, it makes a massive difference, as mentioned above me :).

I think I changed the 4wd power distribution a bit to give the front more power and that made it far easier to me. Think I did 40/60

Cheers guys, adjusted the Torque Differencial,I think that's what it's called :odd: to 50 50 on my Escort Rally Car and slaughtered the intermediate event. Won by 2:06:45 on the Snow Event :sly:

Simple; buy a Lotus Elise 111R and race modify, then install the other upgrades not included in the race modification package. Result: home made professional rally car, and one of the few really 'must have' cars in the game - all for approximately cr300000.

Always stay 1 gear higher than recommended and avoid auto transmission at all costs

Traction, traction and traction.

If you can keep a tight corner with minimal slide you'll take more speed with you through the corner and once you're through you have the traction to start accelerating.

If you slide you'll get the car to point in the right direction, but the car will not start moving in that direction until it stopped and the tires got enough traction to start pulling. Sliding may seem like the faster way of negotiating a corner, but really it's much slower. Sliding may be helpful in some tight corners where it's hard to get the car to turn around, but other than that it should be avoided.

As much as I hate assists (and I'm embarrassed to admit), I must say that SRF works beautifully in the rally events. the second time I played through GT5 I decided to use it so I didn't go through the stress that I went through the first time.

If everything else fails, try it. You can still slide around and all, so it doesn't feel like it's limiting your car. It just makes the handling different. I would even dare to say it is more fun...

But don't use it o the tarmac events! Now that's indeed cheating
