I am a fan of the series and have been thinking about purchasing GT Sport. I have and always will loved the rally racing in all of the games. I have seen some of the trailers showcasing some of the rally racing footage, however I really cant find any videos on online. Do they even have rally racing in the game, and if so do they have some sort of multiplayer component? Basically like how they have circuit racing, is there that same type only for rally?

Dont buy this for rallying. Most people hate the Group B class and the tracks. I find the Dirt style events to be dumb.

I dont find the dirt model to be too bad, its 'different' to the GT6 rally model.

For most people its tolerated or ignored.

It's fun in VR, just really bare bones.

This is GT Sport rally

Sometimes you get GR.B rally cars in sport mode, however the 3 rally tracks are never used in sport mode. You can set up a lobby of course and hope someone will join. It's about as ignored as drift trials.

Go with Dirt Rally. It has some online component, time trail races and 6 player closed circuit racing, if you can find anyone online still.

The Rally tracks aren't too fun and I'm someone who actually loves driving the Group B cars. The problem is that all of the off road surfaces feel the same. Mud, gravel, dirt, grass... they all feel the same. So it totally removes a sense of fidelity from the course while not giving you much surface variation to play with. The course may look like a dirt trail but it will drive like wet tarmac with some bumps. The dirt courses don't even have any real good deformations or aberrations to work with, like a fat berm that you can hook your tire on to make a corner.

The off road model is probably better suited for rally cross with groomed dirt or a gravel surface cutting into tarmac sections, however GT Sport doesn't have a single mixed surface. If they brought back at least 2 rally cross style stages that would help to make Group B matter more.

Well thats very depressing. I was a huge fan of Rally in GT5, I would always host lobbies and play with my friends. I was very excited to hear about GT Sport being focused on competitiveness. I saw the trailers of the Rally and was expecting a WRC Component of the game similar to GT5. I liked GT5 alot and put in a lot of hours into it, it had a lot of variety so I was never bored. Bored of circuit racing? Try Drifting, bored of that? Rally, bored of rally? Do Drag racing. It was always switching between those 4 options and it was a blast. Thats a real bummer, unfortunately Ill just have pass up on GT Sport. I really wanted to do competitive Rally racing, I was very familiar with the tracks and could set really good lap times
