So I was playing Gran Turismo 2 today and really took heed of the old, interesting tracks and cars PD use to have. Then I thought, "What if PD gradually brought back all the originals (To PS4 Standards) one DLC pack at a time?"

It seems PD has been going more for realism lately with partnering with FIA and working on getting more FIA Sanctioned tracks as well as getting more recent cars for the game.

Let's to say hypothetically speaking, PD/GT Sport delivers with the content. They give us an updated Spa Francorchamps, Circuit de la Sarthe, Fuji Speedway, and Monza. They have added tracks to the listing like COTA, Sebring, Bahrain, Interlagos, Shanghai, Donington Park, Road Atlanta, etc. With cars, they give us all new 2012-2016 model road/race cars and some historical/popular race/road cars ALL PREMIUM! Now here's the catch,

They take out every original tracks and all of the original cars from the older games so they'll have time to re-new and premiumize (Not a real word) them.

Lets to say hypothetically, PD wanted to give us all of the old classic GT1-GT2 stuff all up to date through DLC!

An example would be like "Gran Turismo 1 Classic Race Pack 1" It would include 4 popular cars from Gran Turismo 1 and feature premium versions of tracks like Special Stage R11, Grand Valley Speedway, Deep Forest. They would all have weather and time change and look exactly like their PS1 counterpart only more realistic and updated.

How would y'all feel if PD were to do something like this?

Not really sure where else I could have put this so sorry Mods if I made this thread for no reason or if there is already a thread like this in existence. I really wanted to type out my thoughts on this before I forgot everything.

I'd love to have some of the last few PD originals that are still missing come back like Red Rock, Grindelwald and El Capitan.

After driving Red Rock Valley yesterday a couple times, I took note of some the details of that track.

It was set up like an actual race circuit.
Had track lights and all.
Plenty of Run-off room.
difficult turns and a hard S bend at the beginning.
VERY bumpy track which makes for steady and cautious steering input.

I came to the conclusion, PD could make this an actual Endurance racing track for a future GT iteration! It'd be cool if it had a 24h clock. Love to see that track at night time or in the rain....

Then again, I'd love to see Seattle and Grand Valley Speedway in the rain as well.

Absolutely not. GT Sport celebrates real motorsports, and I would prefer it to have only real tracks and cars in the highest quality that they can reasonably add. I do want legacy content, but for GT7, not for GTS.

We don't know if PD might have us download the full game onto GTS yet, plus, I only made this for GT Sport because there's no thread for GT7 anymore..

I understand, but I still say the same; no for GT Sport, yes for GT7. They need to focus on real circuits for now.

When I first heard about a quantum leap in DLC and monthly track DLC for GT6 I was prepared to lay out $50-100 over the life of the game to get a steady flow of fresh, new content. I'd likely still be playing if that DLC had happened as promised. So my vote would be yes, I'll take all the DLC I can get, so long as it's content that's relevant and appeals to my interest.

It's a nice idea, and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any fans who have been with GT since its inception not to agree, but in the grand scheme of things it wouldn't amount to much more than fan service. I'd love nothing more than to take an S2000 GT1 or Altezza LM around Grindelwald or Rome Night in 1080p, 60 frames, but none of that would interest anyone outside of a couple thousand people. Polyphony is trying to draw real motorsports fans of all ages and skill levels, and a DLC plan like this kind of flies in the face of that goal.

I think some of you are assuming that GTSport has to be entirely based on FIA content, both cars and tracks and that's not necessarily the case. There are a number of ways they could approach this, and one would be a traditional style of game although smaller in scope, with only the top or FIA sanctioned events run with FIA cars and tracks. FIA might be the focus of the game but it doesn't have to make up the entirety of the content. IMO that would be a mistake anyway because the content would be very limited in scope and the game would not have nearly the wide appeal of a traditional style GT game.

How exactly they're gonna structure the game remains to be seen but what you describe at the end there — something limited in scope with a fraction of the appeal of a typical GT game — is kind of exactly what I'm imagining.

And before somebody comes in and drops that "everything you'd expect" quote, just know that I've read it, I don't care, and I firmly believe it amounts to nothing more than PR speak :D
