GT Update: 2 weeks on and i still can't D/L it.

I've had major issues with it too, but I got the download after a week of trying, I got it by downloading multiple times in the early morning. I noticed that trying to download after your download failed has allmost zero effect, it allmost always stops after a few seconds of downloading, so I only downloaded when the game started. but anyway, it's just plain crap that they don't offer it in the psn-store or something.

uPnP is enabled on my router too, but is there any chance that it cud be disabled from my ISP itself? And any idea what mode should i keep it on in the networks option in GT5P?

BTW this is the screen it gets stuck on -


Is this how it downloads? or does a proper 'downloading update' screen come after this?

That is the proper download screen. I don't think your ISP can disable uPnP on you. If your tried everything mentioned in this thread you might need to open some ports on your router. Here is the link to GTP port numbers http://www.gran-turismo.com/support/en/port_number/

That screen should only show for a second then it will move to another screen (looks exactly the same) that says "Download in Progress" or something like that.

What NAT type do you have?

To check go to the PS3 XMB, then scroll accross to system settings, then go down to network connections and select "Test Network Connection"

Once its done it should tell you your NAT. A NAT of 1 is most favourable, but some ISP's (like BT) will not give you anything better than NAT 2 for "security reasons" (or so they say).

NAT 3 it NOT what you want! And will prob be related to your download troubles.

First test and post your results.

Is there anyway you could connect your PS3 directly to your router?

Somehow i think that is the ONLY solution. Mine worked on the 1st attempt this morning when i used an ethernet cable, the download finished within 20 minutes.

My NAT type is 2 when I see it after "Test your Connection". But In my WiFi router I selected the option "Open" (instead of default - "Secured"). I also have the uPnP mode to 2 (in the InGame Networks Tab in GT5P).

I have tried both, Wired / Wireless (from the WiFi Router) and also tried connecting the cable directly, it connects to the net, downloads Demos and other updates, but GT5P's update..

I just get stuck on the screen shown above (please wait - "Preparing Downloading")..

Will try port forwarding from the link mentioned above tonite.. I am almost on the verge of changing my ISP for GT5P !!! Although that procedure is a little long..

Finally! ...It's working!

I brought my PS3 down stairs and wired it up via ethernet to my router, I spent 20 minutes unscrewing the plasma from the wall as the ethernet cable wasn't long enough to stretch from the living room to the hallway where the router is.

Better be worth it!

Ouch, lucky it was worth it. Unscrewing the TV off the wall for nothing would've been painful...
