I'm curious if anyone else has had their GT driving experiences "morph" over into real life?

Case in point: We own a Nissan Versa with the CVT transmission - so you never have to touch the shift lever once it's in drive. So - one Saturday morning (after a previous evening of real heavy action with GT5), we're running errands. I pull away briskly from a light while making a LH turn. As the revs come up, I automatically reach for the shift lever, ready to grab 2nd gear and get on it. About the same time I realize what I'm doing, my wife turns to me, pauses, then says "Dear - you're not in the game anymore".

Oops...busted

All too often. Only my wife encourages it. No need to incriminate myself online, but I can verify I have the best wife EVER!

I'm pretty sure that we had something like this already...
But throwing in my .02, don't try to use the game as a way to teach you how to drive fast.
GT5 is not a sim and it'll give you a distorted sense of grip, speed, etc.

Good day Senior Cat, I noticed your thread on how you achieved success at silver , at your silver age, congratulations. If ever you wish to join some online sessions, I usually host on weekends , Nurburging, at 505pp street, or 650pp DTM .

as for my GT ==> real life, well, I did accumulate 4 driving infractions in less than 90 days. Albeit minor, it's all or nothing it seems, will contest them all. Funny how none of my violations had anything to do with what I really do like in GT.

It teaches theory well, so it has its uses. There's no replacement for actual track time.

I looked but no.

I'm not old enough to drive a car yet, but I did go go-karting a few times.

I was approaching a sharp hairpin when the back sort of kicked itself out a bit.

I held it. :D

There's always that thing when you spend an entire week playing GT5 with a wheel (G25 in my case), and when you get to your real car at the end of it all, you get the sense that the wheel is much bigger than it was supposed to be... :dunce:

Or, while driving around for real, to actually reach for the (inexistent) shift paddles... :D

I 've been playing GT since it came out. Now when I went to get my permit and started to drive a real car, I can't even see the difference.
