New Gran Turismo games are very realistic and have so many cars to use.. But I think Gran turismo 1 is the most fun game of the serie. Cpu cars were very competitive.. Anyone agrees?

I had just recently started a game, and also recently read http://gtsc.skylineobsession.com/GT1about.htm

In the lower level races, you do seem to need to severely overpower the AI before you will open a gap or string them out at all, and it's not clear the slowest cars are restricted to their actual simulation pace.

The reverse side of that is that the same algorithm causes them to sometimes "wait" for you if you mess up. The algorithm, though, still works best for you if you use a ridiculously overpowering car. If you mess up and can catch up, they wait for you. But they won't wait any more just because your car is slower. Which is sort of handicapping to help you learn, but sort of not. It's handicapping to help rediculously overpowered human entrants.

So perhaps most of the cheating occurs when they were otherwise driving below their real pace anyway. As part of the AI maintaining what they think is the correct minimum pace, they will frequently bang into your rear or side, and make highly unlikely passes at some points as you relearn the tracks. Actually, the worse thing is the way they will usually take their line as if you weren't there at all. Often sliding past your car as if it weren't there at all.

This feature is in every gran turismo (remember watching replay in GT3, where AI had only 75% throttle at lower tiers.)

And in every GT is not very good balanced. (see/play ToCA 2 Touring cars for good balance in AI)
