I have decided to make a topic dedicated to GT2's best looking cars :) What I mean by GT2's is that the car is not supposed to be the best looking in the real world, but in GT2.

So, here are some of mine:
Alfa Romeo 156 '97

Lotus Esprit GT1 '97

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69

Nissan Xanavi Arta Silvia GT '99

Subaru Impreza 22B STi '98

Now, I have to tell that those cars weren't supposed to come from different "social" groups (road, race, ~ drag, ~ drift, ~ rally), at least it wasn't planned :) But you can choose whatever you want - it doesn't really matter if you divide them or not.

+ leave the comments of course :)

I'll group them ;)

Road Car: Datsun 240Z, amazing detail and classic "old school" look.
Race Car: Toyota GT-One '98, the most striking race paint scheme, feels like you're driving thunder.
Muscle Car: Shelby GT300 RMed, great 'stock car' look, very clean body kit design (not like the '67 Sting Ray).
GT300 Car: Momo Corse Apex MR2, looks [almost] like a mini Ferrari.
Rally Car: Celica Rally Car (the one from Laguna Enduro).

I find that since GT2 was such a rushed game, that some cars look great (or as good as the PS1 can render) while others look horrible.

Take, for instance the Aston Martin DB6. This is one of my favorites. It just looks stunning with its wire-spoke wheels and accurate body work.

But then we move on to the Aston Martin Vantage. Yuck..it looks like a blob! Way too much "Poly-shine"...the body-work looks undefined and sloppy.

In general, many cars in GT2 have too much shine on them...which ruins the way they look in my opinion.

I agree very much.

I don't have pictures, but:

GT1 cars: The Lotus Elise GT1 (the black really brings out its body lines; shadow effect makes it even more svelte, not the ugly scheme it was given in real life)

Sports cars: TVR Griffith 4.0L/500 (Wonderful-looking car; taut and lithe; colours on the latter aren't bad either)

GTPs: Toyota GT-One in general (1998 scheme was elaborate, 1999 was pure, and the Road Car was just the basics. Awesome on such a radical car. It also looked more aggressive in this game than others; the headlight slant looked positively menacing)

Sports racers: [R] Mazdaspeed RX-7 A-Spec (really understated)

Plainclothes racecars: [R] Ford GT-40 (it made the Race Car's scheme look like a circus attraction)

Sedan: BMW 528i (surprisingly clean lines on a big sedan results in unsurpassed elegance)

Thanks for the pics AAZ, my internet connection is rather slow at the moment so uploading pics would take ages for me.

Some more best lookers:

Sports Car: I'm torn between the Esprit Sport 350 and Motorsport Elise, the Esprit is a "gentleman's" sportscar and the Elise is an Exige in wolf's clothing :D.

Concept Car: PT Spyder, the only modern styled Plymouth in the game and hence looks stunning.

Fantasy Cars: S2000 GT1 & Altezza LM (both in dark grey), what more can you say? Add laser cannons and hovercraft skirts and you have a car for James Bond.

GT500 Car: Cerumo Supra, black is always a good colour for race cars :)

Supercar: Jaguar XJ220 in Madeira Metallic, classic supercar icon of the 90s.

Radical Car: Espace F1, looks can be deceiving ;)

Sedan: Peugeot 406 Coupe, still looks futuristic for its age.

Kei Car: Subaru 360, I've always been a bit partial to this little Subie, but you can't deny it got style.

Small Car (essentially Kei Car outside Japan): Lancia Y, refreshing to see a car that doesn't look like the rest.

It does :) With great performance to boot. Pity it's only a fantasy car (not real life).

Huh?..

Well superberkut answered it for me. I don't think the race car existed until I saw your picture. It looks a bit different than the one in-game though, so I'll stand by my word that the LM is fictional :D. Although the one in your picture still looks nice too. Wonder if they also have a race version of the Wiegert W8?

The Venturi rocks 👍 It's called Atlantique 600 SLM in real life tho, not 600 LM like in the game.

Awww, that's too bad. The Wiegert would've been an awesome race car, given its power and distinguishable shape. Maybe someone created a kit car based on it?

Wiegert would have most likely copyrighted the design anyways, or at least the people that seized the project from him would have. But, its angular features would have indeed made for a good kit car.

I think that Pd uses the same body kit & decals as what they saw in these pictures, but since they haven't got any technical info on the car, they have to classify it as in LM.

I mean, just imagine somebody over in Japan designing a game with large deadlines looming and the entire world wanting to play it. They can read about the limited technical info available for Venturis and Vectors on the internet, maybe consult a book or 2, and maybe even call a rep from the company to verify a few things, but JUST TRY GETTING THIS REP TO DIVULGE ANY INFO ABOUT THEIR RACE CARS, of which just 1 or 2 have been built!

PD hits a dead-end. They're allowed to use the car so it looks like the real thing, but with no technical info and no current road-testing and limited resources, they've got no idea how this car is supposed to drive or handle, so they make an educated guess...and now we have an LM instead of a well-documented vehicle like the STP Taisan Viper and Momo Corse MR2.

A little off-topic... Vector Motors has recently announced a new car called Vector WX8. Looks just like a "normal" sports car, but there's something more than normal under the bonnet - a twin-turbo ten liter V8 producing up to *cough* 1,850 bhp.
Proof-link
They say the Veyron will be finally beaten with that car.

A bit unremarkable. The F-22 cues are more visible on other cars, and it would be anybody's guess as to how this car handles at speeds exceeding the Veyron's. The Ultimate Aero SSC would add something to that.

About Veyron - if you've been watching Top Gear, you probably know that VW didn't let TG test it on the track. They (Top Gear) pretend they don't know why, but my guess is because VW are not confident about Veyron's possibilities to beat, for example, Koenigsegg, which is less powerful but way lighter, but at the same moment they want it to be the #1 supercar in people's thoughts.

Just to finish this.

Interesting. You guys can watch Top Gear in Russia. That's cool. Via satellite?

Well, it looks more credible from this angle. The headlights look as if they came off a 1995 Supra, which, while not a bad thing, is rather odd.

Via Mininova mate ;)

Actually, one of the local russian channels does show the translated version of Top Gear, but it's almost twice shorter (no news or Star-in-a-reasonably-priced-car part, etc.) and I prefer the original version much more ^^

...looks like a C5-era Camaro to me....at first that's what I thought it was.
