GT3 Courses == Real Courses??

How closely do the courses in Gran Turismo 3 resemble a real world course? I've found that Cote D'Azur resembles the Formula 1 course at Monaco, and I think I recognize some other tracks. Does anyone have a list or maybe just know?

Laguna Seca is in Monterrey CA
Cote d whatever IS monaco
Tokyo is a temporary street course that they use for JGTC (not sure)
One of the rally courses is real supposedly
 
I'd like to see someone build the Complex String ...

Looks like Deep Forest most closely resembles Cart's course "Road America" at Elkhart Lake, WI.

There's some passing resemblence but I think you're drawing a bit of a long bow on that one! Points for style, though!

I'm more inclined to think that the tracks are a collection of corners modelled on corners from tracks around the world. Just don't ask me to name any...

Yea, I think that's closer to accurate. Except for the obvious ones anyway. Does the Cote D'Azur exactly replicate the Monaco track??

Pretty much - there's some slight differences in run-off roads and kerbing, but it's very close. It's probably more accurate than some GP games!

Actually just on the Complex String, that thing is like every advanced driver training exercise rolled into one!

This is one of the coolest race pictures I've seen, and you know all the f1 shots I was going through for the GTP f1 desktop!

Super speedway seems to be a real course as well. I have an IMAX dvd ironically enough called "Super Speedway." The course Mario Andreti races around seems to be exaclty like it.

Holy crap, somebody else bought super-speedway?

Its kinda cool, but not a repeat watcher.

Hehe, you think so? Thanks! :blush: :D It's really not that big of a hobby, there's just lots of great photo opportunities floating around a racetrack. :) I can send you the full version of that picture if you want...

This picture almost didn't make it because of a corrupted compact flash card, but I was able to recover it. I think you'll like it! ;) https://www.gtplanet.net/images/gas.jpg (Notice the flame just beginning to ignite in front of the rear wheel!) :eek:

I had posted a thread about it a while ago too. I think that the making of it turned out better than the actual movie portion though.
