I've been trying this a lot lately but I can't seem to get any better at this... What is the secret to long cool powerslides in GT3? Can it be done properly with a DS2 controller? Or do I need a wheel?

Try this
Get an RX7 RZ or Regular Viper
Max Mod's
Sim tires
TCS/ASM off or low
and go practice at Midfield. If the rear doesen't get out enough add toe to rear try 1.5
Also set your brakes to 6/20
lsd 50/50/26
Auto gear 24
That should get ya started. Oh yeah, you don't have to have a wheel, i've used both.

I like using the dpad and I can do it with any car except 4 wheel drive cars very difficult to do it in those. Can anyone help me with that?? ;)

I'll give ya my Nismo 400R setts.
Get all mods, these were my racing setts for tire wear races so i used t3's you might want to use sim tires if it don't slide enough.
spring 6.5/8.6
hgt 85/85
bound 6/7
rebound 6/7
camber 2.0/1.0
toe 0.0/1.5
stabs 3/4
brakes 6/10
lsd front 10/10/10
rear 30/40/26
auto gear 30
asm 1
tcs 1

The secret of looonng powerslides is SIM TYRES !!!

Try them out!! :)

(Might want to be a bit gentle on the buttons though..)

You don't need special settings to drift!!!! C'mon! ;)

4WD: Just trow the car sideways into the corner so you immediatly start sliding, now pitch the trottle and make slight (over)steering corrections to avoid going too much inwards

FR, RR, MR: Enter the corner at your usual line...only slightly slower. 2nd or 3rd gear (depends on the car) and make sure you have enough torque available now midway the corner floor it so your tail will sweep the opposite direction of the corner...now try to keep it sliding wih the same technique as above

FF: ...errr, you really don't want to drift these cars :p Or...if you insist; do a scandinavian before the corner (hard left/right followed by virtually throwing the car in the other direction) make sure you're at a good speed and keep the car from understeering (brake slightly when going out of the slide to keep sliding another meter;)) and then just hang on to your helmet 😈

I think thats called "fish tailing". ;)

Yeah I know how to get the back end out but they're usually just short slides.. I'd like to drift the whole corner..

Ok, the rx-7 and going easy on the X-button seems to be helping.. But I often end out in the gravel.. I guess all it takes is practise.. Not sure about the tyres though.. Super soft slicks at the front make it a lot easier controlling the slides, but it gets harder at the same time, too much wheelspin.. The rx-7 is maybe a little bit too tail-happy.. Gotta try with a little less hp (and no racing flywheel...)..

Yup, practice. I am usually drifting going into the corner. I use a feint motion and brakes to start the drift. First corner at Midfield for example. Weave to the left and tap your brakes when you turn the wheel right to enter the corner. Keep the hp and sim tires on so you can sustain the drift thru the whole corner. If your getting too squirley then add a little asm/tcs. Idealy you want to have your nose close to the rumble strip and the rear out going thru the apex of the corner. You can use the Nismo setts i posted for the RX7 also just change.
height 100/101
camber 3.0/2.0
stabil 3/3
brakes 6/20
lsd 50/50/26
auto gear 24

indeed... i use a S14 Silvia, everything to the max... super softs in front, super slicks in the rear... the car is much easier to drive that way!

use any car, except the FF cars, go into a turn shift to second and redline it, you can feel the car slide and then you just do what ever you want

at seattle. i did, and unresponsive to correction is an understatement, try mega unresponsive.

I have a Sprinter Trueno Apex with 350bhp that works best on Normal tyres. I put the full racing suspension on it so I could monkey with the settings and put all three lightweight stages on it. I found though that there was no need to change the settings and it would drift very nicely anyway. It is the only car I can think of that you have to try to make understeer but which is still controlable on the limit. I also had a lot of fun with a standard Merc CL600 with sim tyres :D
