gt3 is great, but this is why I enjoyed gt2 more

Because the hp requirements that played a greater part in the middle portion of the game made it SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING.

Finishing off the game with the help of the 'Scudo (or F1 in part 3) is fine and all, but I felt the middle had far less competition in it. Dealer races are cool but I can't resist buying everything for the damn thing anyways.

just my $0.04, anyone disagree?

I think that the first two games had more variation in series altogether. I know it's difficult to believe that the current game has no variation, but there isn't anything to stop you doing the bulk of some of the leagues with three cars.

I loved the nations races in GT1, where you could go into "America v Japan" with a Mitsubishi, and then go do it again with a Viper.

So yeah, I agree! :)

I felt that GT2 was more or less a re-hash of GT1, so in my case GT2 is the game that I have been playing the least....

And I think that GT3 has been the best.

Probably because I have not been using the 'scudo / formula cars.

I always knew that doing that, would ruin the game.

Yeah, same for me too.
I enjoyed (and am still enjoying) GT3 the most - perhaps because I didn't go through and win half of the races with an f1 car.

Apart from going for all-golds in the licences, I hardly touched GT2. I think I'm at, like 10% complete in that game!

GT1 I played to death, like I'm sure most of you did.

With GT1 there was a "buzz", where I really wanted to get stuck in and get money-get cars-tune cars etc... And I feel there's also a buzz for GT3.

I'm kinda lost for words also, I have GT2 also, and yes, it was a great game. And even though GT3 is it's next step, comparing the two shouldn't take place. IMHO, both were great games, on two different platforms. They both take advantage of what each system has to offer. Both are challenging, and also fun. I personally don't think GT2 was any better than GT3, in fact, I think GT3 is better for no other fact but it's got a more realistic selection of cars. Not 400 or so, like GT2. In GT3, when you work for a car, and get it, I think it means more, less to choose from. That's just me.

Interesting replies, I was expressing my opinion cause I never played gt1 and loved gt2 b/c of all the work I put in it and finally beat it after 2? months.

As for my gt3 experience, see the thread "my friend erased my game!!!!" :p

The reason I like the hp requirements was it forced you to use specificaly tuned cars for each race. The "all japan" or "all american" meant very little to me, maybe if I go back and take more care in car selection (not just the best one in the garage) I'll get more out of it.

Yeah, I missed that on GT3, especially the Racing Mods to Stock cars!

I which they kept the Hp requierments, and the All Japan, American, British, etc. races. I also liked the American vs. Euro (I know British, just which it was Euro), or American vs. Japan, or British vs. Japan Races.

What I was glad to see, was the abolishment of those damn Manufacturer Races:rolleyes:.

I think GT2 offered the best game in the series. Plenty of 'street' cars like the Saxo and the 206 S16. Much more interesting as far as I was concerned. It also seemed to have more to offer in the way of gameplay, the leagues, the one model series idea across so many models.

This is true - but the bugs and the fact that you could cheat on most of the races did knock the edge off it a bit - oh yeah, and I still think GT1 was better looking.

That said, if GT3 had been a simple graphical update of GT2 (along with the improved driving model, the force-feedback feature and the F1 cars) I think it would have better than GT3.

I miss the older cars and the tracks they cut.
