GT3 PLATINUM OR PURPLE?

hey,i bought a PS2 GT3 Racing pack. ( PS2 with GT3 game included.) I have noticed that the bottom is platinum and has holographic Playstation logos on it. One of my friends bought his GT3 and a store and its bottom was purple. why is this?
 
Usually with PS2 games the silver ones are DVD's and the purple are cds. I don't see how they could ever fit GT3 on a cd. I heard that its a DVD anyway.
 
Yes, I know. Maybe you misunderstood me. In the PS2 manual it says silver are DVD and purple are CDs. Must be an exception, GT3.

DVD doesn't have to mean movies, it's a completely different storage medium that is just large enough to hold movies (due to their popularity).  You can store anything on a DVD disc, including PS2 game files.
 
WELL DOES TAT MEAN ANYTHING. JUST BEACUSE ITS ON A DVD ROM DISC? IS IT SPECIAL OR ITS JUST ON A DVD ROM DISC AND THATS IT.NO MEANING BEHIND IT EXCEPT THAT ITS ON A DVD ROM DISC
