Yeah!!! I finally got GT3 and a PS2! Anyway, I was curious about the oil change thing and the mileage thing where if you get a lot of mileage on a car you start to lose horsepower? And when exactly do I change my oil? I just don't want to lose any horsepower on my cars. And for prize cars... if I sold the car I won from Sunday cup, can I get it again?

Ooh, and there's room for 200 cars in the garage and I heard there are only about 190 cars. So am I able to have one of EVERY car? :D

Yes you do. When you buy it and after every race. Once it gets over 500ish km you lose power anyway. No you can't. Yes you can.

Aaaand this belongs in the GT3 forum (the clue is in the name).

Ok. Sorry for putting it in the wrong forum and thanks for the answers. Ok. So I change my oil between "Get The Car" and "Drive The Car" and after every race after that? And with the losing horsepower thing by mileage... What if I race a prize car past 500mi... is there no way to get that power back, since you can't win the car again??
 
Hi, Andre, and welcome to GT3 and GTPlanet.

Yes, change your oil before driving any car - bought or won. That adds about 5% extra horsepower.

Bought cars start at X horsepower, and over the first hundred km or so, they gain a little power, till they reach a peak. After 500, they lose a little, but they will never permanently lose power to below the original purchased level. When the oil is very dirty, the power may drop below that level, but changing it after the series is over will get that power back. You don't need to change the oil after every race, but it goes bad in about 189 miles / 300 km. In a long series it will go bad in the middle and you cannot change the oil until the series is over. When not in a series, you can check the oil by going to the wash/oil/wheels place. There is a thermometer there - the darker the oil, the worse it is. Fresh oil is bright green.

Prize cars do the same thing, except they start out at peak horsepower and don't need to be broken in.

When you gain extra mileage...you don't really lose hp, but lose it from between the 300-500 mile mark where you actually gain hp (called the break in period). If you win a car it comes broken in, so you don't have to drive it for too long to get that extra bhp out of it.

BTW, I'm not really new here. I'm new to the GT3 section, but I had GT and GT2 for a long time. :D

Ooh, and anyone want to help me enter a competition (GT3)? I'd really like to try to beat other people's times. :cool:

Edit: Just to make it clear... When I buy the car and drive it without changing the oil, it has a -5% dirty oil modifier on it but if I change it (even after a few races) I will get that 5% back? :banghead:
 
sure there is a race that is held every week by boom that can be found here read this and it will tell you everything you need to know about weekly race series.

Yep, you get it "back" even if you change the oil later. :)
 
yea i noticed that now my skyline went over 500km and it lost power :( :(

First it was 1075Hp......now 1062hp :banghead:
