ya theyshould put a pit crew like nascar. all moving and everthing. and a sexy girl like in f1 2001. and a horn so if you wanna horn at someone you can. cause half the carsare street cars.
 
<shrug> This is an arguement that has played out in the Rumors and Speculations forum.

I myself figure, that if it won't improve the *racing* (which is why we play the game), it's all just a waste.

I'd much rather PD save time by leaving out the horn, the sexy girl (??) and the fancy pit crew (graphics anyways) and model more cars.

I agree with a pit crew, nice addition, that would be nice to have, all rendered, and all.
 
yeah, a pit crew would be good. and perhaps some faster pit times. on some races i have a 25-35 second lead on the guy in second place, and its reduced to 11-12 seconds by the time i get out of the pit. they should make the speed limiting in the pit 80mph. its a waste to lose so much time in a pit stop especially after having such a good lead...
 
My only thoughts wrt the pit crew is, one nice addition would be to basically "upgrade" your pit crew. ie - the further along you get, you could purchase faster guys.

<shrug> I have *no* idea how true to life that is though, but I imagine among the race teams, they buy and barter better crew members amongst themselves?

But don't waste the time rendering people to put in the game. Either a) They'd look awful (like the people standing around in the background) or b) they'd spend ages making people look half-assed decent when they could be adding more cars in.
 
Anyone seen Ferrari F355 pit crew fo sho dawg. Unfortunately its quite usless because there aint no dammage tyre wear or fuel consumption. But its sooooooo coooooool!

i dont think they should have new pit graphics (like guys running around), but i do think there should be more options. u should be able to switch the type of tire u are using (hard or soft). i guess getting an oil change in the pits wouldnt be very realistic, but it would be cool to get rid of the red light during endurance races.
 
I have to agree with ethanol here... there is no way that a pit crew will enhance the driving experience part of the game, it's more of a candy-eye kinda thing. Now, having options when pitting (different tires, change downforce, etc.) might be good, though I have no clue how they would be able to incorporate the options list, since you have such a short time (basically, you would only have the time in the pit entrance to chose).
 
If we get a pit crew, can I please have the ability to change some settings while in the pits?

True, pit crews make it real, But it isn't needed that much to *enhance* the game.
 
hahaha imagine going 200 miles an hour entering pit and its hard to slow down for yer pit crew!!!!
 
Not a pit crew, but a more interactive pit section.

As soon as the car lifts off the ground you hit a button combo.

R1, R2, L1, L2 are tire change buttons, Analog right is Rear downforce adjustment, Analog Left is front downforce (If applicable), and X is drop from lift. Possible to have "add fuel" and "conduct oil change" as 2 other buttons.

So you auto drive into the pit, tag get new tires, adjust your down force, Add fuel?, and hit the X to drop from the lift, and AutoDrive out.

Therein lies the problem - what things should be modifiable.....

I often want to adjust my gears but rarely ever anything else.

How would they determine just how long it takes to make the change? (I know that changes to the downforce are relatively quick - gearing changes wouldn't be....)

The length of time that your pit stop takes should vary with what modifications you select....

My thoughts exactly. Everything is dependent on time. Should you drop the car too early, you roll a wheel off, should you drop it too late, you lose race time.

The gearing would be a tough one. Usually check my gearing in the qualifying, as well as my downforce. then on top of that I only have so many fingers. changing tires is easy, four buttons, one tire per. Down force up and down is simple as well.

Gearing would be considerably tougher. I do like the idea of an interactive pit stops. Right now I use it to take a pull off of whatever I'm drinking during the race, and to wipe down the paddle.

:lol: You are WAY too into the game if you've got to wipe it down during a pit stop.

Btw - you are definately showing your age with the "paddle" thing. Did you use to own a Colecovision?

Back to more serious things... I rarely ever spend the time to do qualifying. I think the only one I did was on the Pro Vitz race... Perhaps I should so I can set my cars up.... <shrug>
