Hey all,

I was wondering what you thought of that game Auto Modellista. I haven't heard anything even from when it came out but they were saying it's the best thing to challenge Gran Turismo. It's all relative though, anything other than Gran Turismo is always gonna be second best. Is it worth getting? I played it at my local Fry's and it was odd, I have to play it more indepth I guess. I forgot who but someone was saying gt should have at least backup lights, well guess what it has back up lights, turn signals and hazard lights. Whoo Hoo! Anyways, thanks for your opinion.

Good graphics, almost everything else sucks, including the physics engine.

Is it worth getting?
No. Sucks so much.

Yes it is. You bounce walls to win.

That's right. And that's pretty much it.

AM is a piece of ****. It's physics engine is terrible and gameplay suffers due to that. I think I had more fun customizing the cars than actually driving them.

Lol Oh my god, why does the physics engine suck? Tell me why it sucks? Because it's not Gran Turismo? Why do you people feel the need to compare every driving game to Gran Turismo, AM is NOTHING like gran turismo, and in no way attempts to be. It's a great game, I play it more than GT3, because it has ONLINE PLAY, which Gran Turismo 3 doesn't. I play it more because I don't have to sit through 50 lap races like I do in gran turismo to get 1 car. I like it because you can customize your car a HELL of alot more. No you can't sit there and say "I want to adjust my gear ratio's by .001, because that's not realistic either. AM is a great game, worth the buy if you have a PS2 Modem, don't mind what the critics that base their opinion on a GT3 VS AM basis, because there is no comparison, that's like comparing Super Mario and Mortal Kombat, which one is a better sports game. The funny thing is, all the people that can't drive the cars, i have come to the conclusion that you're just awful drivers and gamers. IF you can't adapt to a system that isn't that much less realistic than any of the cars in GT3 on SIM tires then you're blaming the wrong thing.

hint: it's not the game's fault.

well i have never playe AM but for $105 AUS ($50 more that GT3 and GTC) i would rather buy 2 GT games instead of 1 AM

Holy crap 105 AUS? Good god. Well considering it's 40.00 US and GT is 30.00 and we don't have concept, i say it's worth it...When did AM Debut for you? Because it Debuted in the US in...April I believe...

I didn't compare it. When bouncing the walls is even faster than grip driving, what's the point of racing? It gets so boring quickly. Of course people will say that it is 'morally incorrect' by 'cheating'. Not to mention that you can't do much powersliding, so there is no point to touge racing.

I haven't tried online, I hope they drive 'responsibly'. That is all.

$70 dollars... is inflation really that bad over there

ive never seen it for $105 AUS, i see it for around $80 AUS and dont forget that $40 US is worth about $75 AUS so we actually get GT3 (now) for about $20-25 US same with GTC

You obviously didn't play that long, because the only track where "bouncing off walls" is faster is on US Speedway and US Dirt track, on EVERY other course you go ALOT faster when you're away from the walls. As far as "Not much powersliding" You've got to be kidding me? I can maintain one drift through the entire Roku Hill run downhill.

i may have to go and rent it and see what i think of it

Clearly there is a difference between us. I hardly play games consistently. I spent no more than 3 hours on each game unless it's worth mentioning. There are so many games out there, there is no time to learn the skills on each of them. I enjoy Midnight club II and Burnout 2 way more than Auto Modellista or Initial D SS even. None of those have realistic engines, but MC2 and BO2's cars don't spin out unless you want them to. AM, while it looks aesthetically, it takes a while to learn, especially the drifts, but do some got the patience to get that exact amount of countersteering before spinning out? Hell no.

did anybody get this
don't mind what the critics that base their opinion on a GT3 VS AM basis, because there is no comparison, that's like comparing Super Mario and Mortal Kombat, which one is a better sports game.
if so please explain it

I own both AM and GT3 and obviously GT3 is a better game. AM is good if you want an ok variety of cars, customization to the max, cel-shaded graphics, and races that aren't very long. I would definetely choose GT3 though, just because of the overall gameplay, graphics, and car variety. Oh and by the way, at the top of this page someone said something like "the only way to race is the hit the walls" or something like that, that might not be exactly what he said, but he must not be a good driver because I find it quite easy to drive on that game.

it dont make sense right? Well thats the point hes trying to get across...it doesnt make sense to compare these two games

Let me tell you why it sucks. There is no reason why a Mazda Miata should have its tail end out at 30MPH, NO REASON. Yeah, maybe they did base it on drifting, but the handling sucks ass. Its like your driving with bald tires on ICE. Of coarse you would be buyest, your name is Drifster. The heart of a Racing game is its physics, the physics of the game just arent good. I dont compare them to GT, I compare them to actual experience. There are some good parts to the game though. Im sad to say, the best part of the game is its Replay editing feature. You'd have more fun playing PONG. Dont buy it, save your money for GT4 or SRS...
