I'm thinking about running a series with my mates using GT300 type cars. We'll probably limit power to somewhere around 375bhp. All the cars need to be proper racing cars, no "Tuners" or regular production cars. So far I've compiled the below list using the GT Matrix spreadsheet. I can't access MyGranTurismo from work (I know, I know, I'll get back to it shortly).

Can anyone else think of any other cars that would be suitable/eligable..??

Acura - NSX RM '91
AutoBacs ARTA - Garaiya (JGTC) '03
AutoBacs ARTA - Garaiya '08
BMW - 320i Touring Car '03

Astra Touring car? BMW M3 GTR ,CLK DTM? EVo X? Impreza 22B(or any STi or Evo if you've put the Evo IX in there most should be competitive.👍)

The Astra and CLK are a bit much for this, both would probably be better suited to GT500. The Evo IX above is the RM version.

VW golf RM

I'll add it to the list, might struggle to boost up the power.

Thanks all :)

Why not just run the 9 GT300 cars? If you start adding all those other cars it will be a nightmare trying to get them even, and then you don't have a GT300 series anyway.

This is what I was going to say. Admittedly it would be cool to have other cars that aren't GT300 as such but are competitive, like how in real life there are McLarens and Porsches in Super GT but the actual cars aren't in GT5, though. Why not limit the power to 300bhp so the actual GT300 cars aren't overpowered, restrict the minimum weight to the same as the GT300 cars (can't remember what that is), then see what happens after that.

Don't worry too much about one car being hugely overpowered, you could always do test runs to see if anything needs to be handicapped (via aero/weight/power restrictions), or if you do hold a race and someone completely runs away with it, just outlaw that car. It happened to the R32 GT-R, Chaparral 2J and Tyrrell P34, to name a few.

I would:

Rules

300 hp limit
~1000 kg limit

Cars
Autobacs ARTA Garaiya (JGTC) ‘03
Nissan C-WEST RAZO SILVIA (JGTC) ‘01
RE Amemiya AMEMIYA ASPARADRINK RX7 (JGTC) ‘04
Subaru CUSCO SUBARU ADVAN IMPREZA (JGTC) ‘03
Toyota SUPERAUTOBACS APEX MR-S (JGTC) ‘00
Toyota WEDSSPORT CELICA (JGTC) ‘03
Autobacs ARTA Garaiya (SUPER GT) ‘08
Lexus Weds Sport IS350 (SUPER GT) ‘08
RE Amemiya Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 (SUPER GT) ‘06
Subaru CUSCO DUNLOP SUBARU IMPREZA (SUPER GT) ‘08

The Elise 111R is too light... you would have to add about 350kg for it to be eligible.

GT300 is 1100kg and 340bhp roughly.

The actual regulations are pretty complicated, only 3.4L V8 engines are allowed and the weight limit determines the size of the air restrictor, so a car weighing 1200kg will have a larger air restrictor allowing more air into the engine (increasing power) than a 1100kg car.

The Lexus Wedsport weighs 1150kg, but is allowed to have more power than a lighter RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX-7.

The only way to do regulations properly is to not allow engine tuning of any kind.

I looked on wikipedia for GT300 and there was no mention of engine size or weight, only must be 300bhp, so the site needs serious review.

I think the Elise 111R RM could have a 200kgs weigh ballast. Plus a small restriction on power.

Indeed.. does anyone have a link to the official GT300 and GT500 rules? I found wikipedia to be quite useless on the subject.

The only way to do it is to use PP. We ran a GT300 series for a while and it worked very well. We used 540PP, racing medium, and allowed all GT300 and GT500 cars. (no street cars, tuner cars, or RMs) The 500 cars had to be tuned down to meet the PP and most of the 300 cars had to be tuned up a bit.

^+1 for that.

Just to name a few Cars which could compete together doesn´t work.
Example:
Trial Celica. Sure it is fast but it has no front Downforce => is no competition for an Asparadrink GT300 RX7 (or the other real racers).

A F430 Scuderia would be in that class to (maybe with weight restriction and no power mods) because it has 15 front Downforce (makes it almost a Racecar).
