GT4... Auction?

Hello, GTPlanet, and Happy Holidays.

After having some delicous bread sticks with Alfredo from Olive Garden (it's buttery and delicious. You should try it (before getting a big meal, of course)), there is one point I have not mentioned almost at all for GT4. One focus of GT4 is to go back in time with historically-significant street and competition cars. While GT4 looks better than ever, I was thinking... how about an Auction?

Think about it, a GT4 auction so you can race historically-significant cars. Now as I have heard, there is some sort of "museum" where you can look at cars and race them in their heyday (or so I've heard). Of course, while you can still buy and earn cars for upgrading, let's say that this auction is for the racer at heart. Want some more good ideas? Think about this. The Barett-Jackson Auction shown a vintage race on the streets of Monte Carlo, as priceless vintage racers take on the challenging street course. And here in America, we have the Monterrey Historics. Even speed's own Alain de Cadenet raced in this year's event in an Alfa Romeo. I say that if you're going to have classic race cars, why not make it fun? Buy the vintage cars off the lot, earn them in racing, or auction for them using your credits to take home priceless exotics as well as cars you may not be able to buy/earn at all. Can you imagine?

Sounds interesting, online auctions would be cool as well, have a few every week, bidding against other people will really make it seriouse at times.

Auctions in principle are a good idea in GT4, but...
Credits in GT in 'rare' car terms have little value coz anyone can sit down do a load of races & earn a load of credits. So cars would probably end up going for millions & millions.

And thats not even taking into account gamesharks etc...
 
well if they did something like ebay.. where if someone wins a really historical car and they could put it online and have people bit for it or buy cars from you or whatever.. like if I hook up a I dunno lets say a Bently (something very rare to win) and I get sick of it I could put it up for sale online or have people bit and if yuo win, the next time you logg online it automatically loads up into your garage... I know it mihgt be hard to do but doing something like this online would be great, or even if PD made a website where you could go on your PC and bit for a car or whatever and give your ID number... The auction is a great idea but id rather have it as an online feature with other people than the game, because it might get a lil boring in the game where as doing it with other people like i said an Ebay type thing...
 
it seems kinda complicated how that would work...seems like a lot of work that PD would probably not undertake..
 
yea but its just an idea, I kinda highly doubt it would happen but it would be cool though..
 
In another sense, you can think of an Auction capability as a way for beginning racers to take advantage of buying great old cars. It can take a lesson from "Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution." In the Quest Mode, you can go from Sega World West (the easiest arcade) to Sega World East (the hardest arcade). In the sake of GT4, you can go from a Mom-and-Pop Auction to something close to Barrett-Jackson (coming next month). The smaller auctions will allow you a chance to win inexpensive, but reliable cars. Then if you make it to the bigger auctions, you can take home priceless classics.

To go off-topic, how about Used Car lots in GT4, where the cars are sold for higher or cheaper prices? The quality of each car is a good consideration. Now when I mean the quality, I mean...

Has the car had an oil change recently?
How many miles on it?
Does its setup need tuning to make effective racing use?

Go ahead with the replies... sooner or later, we may have to relay this idea to Kazunori (and make a longer delay).
 
I'd really like extended used car dealerships with miles, servicing, etc... as you've mentioned and of course used car dealers for non-Japanese manufacturers too.

Still If they did that we'd be looking at around 1000 cars I'd expect.
 
1000 cars maybe not... even if they made older cars like 80's 90's... in the car dealership all they have to do is just change the color of a car the miles etc and bam right there you could have 20-30 of the same car in a used car lot, it proably wont be to hard to do that either, but I think if they do add the used car feature in GT4 i just hope they let use change the color of the car, because even when you win a car some of the colors are just plain nasty but oh well if not just gotta live with it...
 
hmm....for some reason, I dont' really like the idea of the used dealership...

I wouldn't mind seeing car damage and wear and tear....and which you have to spend money to repair your car as different components fail....
 
Motor City online had auctions for cars and parts. It was quite cool. That game had the best ideas and orignality that was hurt by not using the Porsche Unleashed engine resulting in bad graphics bad physics bad investment for playeris.

GT City Online? I'm selling my real life car , quiting my job and leaving my girl(joking of course).
 
lol yeah i played MCO for a long time and boy i loved that game but the server was going to **** and like they released 400hp nos and blowers man it was messed up<totally off subject but that would be cool and maybe make it so u could get GT4 and a network adapter for like 65 or 70 bux
just an idea though
