GT4 delay because of Forza?

Why would the release of Forza impact on the release of GT4?? Both games on different platforms. Makes no sense.

People will buy the game for whatever console they own. If they have both, well thats a small market and eventually people will buy them both.

I agree evilgnome, the thought had crossed my mind that maybe it was something to do with Forza, but as you said, why? as they are after all exlsuvise to each console.. Just for the records I have both consoles and will be getting both and can't wait for both of em!!

Remember the gt3 in car cockpit sound? Well they changed it to the virtually silent in car view that forza has. Maybe they're checking eachother out. And what's with enthusia having almost the exact same cars and tracks? (i.e. paris, 787b etc.) Also GT4 copied Enthusia VGS system.

There is no racing game that can compete with GT4. Gran Turismo 4 is the top racing game on the market, and will be until there is a Gran Turismo 5.

Is this the reason they keep pushing it back? They tryin to compete?

*yawn*

what do you mean "trying to compete"? they are two very different games, with two very different budgets, if forza tried to compete with GT4 it would get knocked out. Because of that, forza is taking a different aproach to racing than GT4 is.

use your head for a bit, and some common sense, and you'll find the answer by yourself with out starting a thread like this.

and just in case you didn't understand any of what i said, NO, it's not the reason.

Yeah I agree totally - GT and the makers won't feel intimidated by any other racing games at the moment, including "Enthusia" which is a Gt wannabe.

👍

Enthusia is a wannabe GT ,so is Forza. Developers are just trying to compete with GT series but they never succeed. PD doesn't need to worry 👍 ;)

wrong, i don't think either title is trying to compete directly with GT4, Forza is targeting the tuning audience more than any of those 3 games mentioned. and Enthusia is concentrating on the driving experience more than anything else (as far as i've heard they don't even want to have many tuning options.) basicly enthusia is more of a "drivers" game than anything else.
GT4 is a car museum, it offers tuning options, but not to the same level than forza will, at least on the visual aspect of tuning (no bodykits for instance).
Enthusia was banking on GT4 to have crappy controls, but this won't be the case, GT4 now offers a very solid driving feel, but i wouln't be surprised if enthusia was a step up in this department, because they have a lot more CPU to spare than GT4 has for physics.

if forza or enthusia tried to be "GT killers" they woul've gone a different route... the sega GT route. and we all know how that turned out for them.

by bodykits u mean ricer kits or real kits? if real, then GT4 has them, if u mean ricer, then no, gt4 doesnt have ricer kits.

i thought this website was gtplanet not forza planet so why are there people who try to mock gt4 and say how awesome forza is. if u want to do that go to a forza forum. also people who say gt4 copyed any other game a morons as gt was the first realistic console driving simulator. i have seen both forza and enthusia but they bot doont look as good and the footage i have seen from forza makes me think that it is no more than nfsu2 with more cars and details. no game so far can compete with gt4 or 3 when it comes to the cars physics and handiling

As for whether they're "trying to compete" by delaying the game.. that's one of the stupider theories I've heard.

All you have to do is look at what's happened in the game industry in the last couple of months. How many blockbuster titles have gone virtually ignored on store shelves? Case in Point: MGS3. If MGS3 didn't come out at the same time as GTA:SA, Halo 2, and a hundred other titles, it would have dominated the market for months. But instead, it got "lost in the shuffle", buried in a big pile with so many other AAA titles. It's become "just another game" in the mass of games, and it's sales have suffered tremendously as a result.

The exact same thing would happen to GT4 if it were purposefully released in February or March. It would become "just another racing game" alongside Forza, Enthusia, and whatever else will probably come out about the same time. Sure, us hardcore players know it, but the average gamer may not, he'll just see a huge stack of different racing games, and buy one on a whim. And only one.

The only way to gain dominance for a game like GT4 is to come out before the opposition. That way, any subsequent games will be automatically compared to it (and will probably lose). You'll be able to see this in the various magazine reviews of Forza and Enthusia. I can almost guarantee that GT4 will be mentioned at least once or twice in both reviews, probably in regards to where the other games fall short compared to it, and their scores will suffer for it. However, if they come out first, their scores would end up higher, since there's nothing to compare them to. And that would cause nothing but problems for Sony.

Also bear in mind that while Forza and Xbox may have an impact here in the U.S., the Japanese couldn't care less. You think Xbox is dead-last here in the States, for the console war? Try Japan... most gamers there couldn't even tell you what an Xbox looks like, the system is practically non-existant. Which means Sony as a whole wouldn't even think twice about Forza. And in the end, GT4 will probably sell more copies than there are Xbox's.

It'll be out before them, I'm confident of that.

XBOX is a non-factor in the console market in Japan. (Where GT4 is developed)

While PD is likely aware of Forza, I doubt it affects GT4's development in any actual way.

Calm down guys! It doesn't take 7 different people to all jump on a guy's back for coming up with "the stupidest theory I ever heard." He was just trying to ask a simple question, geez. Its stuff like that would scare me away from this site if I were new.

Interesting that you bring up the MGS3 deal, Jedi2016. There are theories going around that GT4 may have been delayed into next year to prevent that very thing from happening.

No offense, but does anyone in their right mind thinks that PD cares about Forza? PD has enough on their minds rather than an XBOX exclusive that wants to compete against a PS2 exclusive. Will Forza be the best racing game on the XBOX? Well, I'll say barely vs. Project Gotham. Will Forza offer features GT4 will not? If you mean other than online play, then yes based on what I heard in the past. But will it actually WAIT on GT4 to be released for a wild west showdown? Hell no. Just release Forza, you're going down anyways.

So in other words, I don't think PD's concerned about Forza. PD claims translation issues, or maybe they're continually working on getting the server issues down. Now who's the first to take shots at me? After all, this is a message board, much less a Gran Turismo fan's paradise.

No, if I remember right, that honour goes to an Atari console game.
I'll let you find it.

[edit] I think it was "Hard Driver", the first true 3D driving sim.

Cheers,

That's actually very possible, and I didn't even think of that aspect of it until you mentioned it. With all the AAA titles out right now, it's quite possible it could have gotten "lost in the shuffle".
