GT4 is much harder to drift in compared to GT3, in some cars it seems somewhat unrealistic. GT3 was a little too easy to drift; you could just flick the e-brake to throw the car sideways, add a little counter-steer and throttle play held the drift around the turn. Also, in higher horsepower cars, you could just go full throttle into the apex and rear-end would slide out into a beautiful drift that only needed minor corrections. But in GT4, It is a whole different concept. It has been very difficult to get a car to do consistent drifts. I think of it this way, if a game wont let a car do doughnuts (GT4 will not, the car just does circles w/out the back-end swinging around.) then it seems that the game isnt meant for drifting.
However, I am not saying that you cant drift, I can, but it just takes A LOT of practice and seems like a whole lot of feathering the throttle but with out letting off the gas. I love GT3 for drifting, and I'm really good at it but, i would hate to leave GT4 to go drift in GT3. GT3 had a menu setting in arcade mode, drift or racing I havent seen that in GT4. Correct me if Im wrong, but is GT4 difficult to drift in, almost as if the cars are not meant to do so? Please tell me what you think. My problem may be tuning/tire/and vehicle choice. What tires should I use? What should my basic suspension settings be? (I know they differ for all cars, but a base to go from)
ride height, spring rate, camber, strut/sway (stabilizers) strength. Any other setting that you guys know of that need to be changed in order to build a successful drift car? 💡
