GT4 REVIEW SCORES IN JAPAN:

Gran Turismo 4 (Sony): 10, 9, 10, 10 - (39/40)

GT4 SALES IN JAPAN: (as of 1/2/05 )

Gran Turismo 4 (PS2, SCE) - 663,000 units

Sony announced they have shipped 1 million copies of Gran Turismo 4 for PS2 in Japan in two days. The game was released on December 28, and have sold more than 660,000 copies in two days. The worldwide shipment of the GT series has now passed 36 million units.
 
it didn't reach one million because people in japan ,I think it reached that number because alot of people outside of japan buyed the Japaness version.

That makes me think of another reason for delay in the rest of the world. They need to have several million copies ready before hitting the shelves; say 10 millions for the USA EC and the rest, in several languages with different cars, etc. That takes a lot of effort and coordination even for a giant like Sony.
