Check out this article on the Playstation Europe website, from a guy at E3 yesterday who has playtested the online version... he hints that September (and not December) as the release date... please be true

Article 14 May 2003

Touring

As much as i hope this will be true, i heavilly doubt it. I don't think we will be playing GT4 before 2004.

Well, if Polyphony is aiming for September, then that lends more credibility to December being the month for release

Until it hapens we cant be sure, we know that Gt4 is not done yet. but im guessing its around 60-70% done.

I saw a link in a thread that went about discussing that GT4 was 50% done. After I read it I realized the article was dated last fall! That may be a good sign for an earlier than anticipated release date.

Lets just pray lads that it comes out that bit early:D

Laters;)

Well, when ever the game is finished and released, it will be good for those of you that owns the PS2. But, for those of us who lives on a fixed income and barely makes it from month to month, we are screwed again. It is really rather stupid that Polyphony and Sony hasn't figured out by now that they are missing out on making more money, because GT3 and I'm sure that GT4 is only made for the PS2 console. I realize that the PS2 has more technology and is capable of hooking up to the internet, to compete against other online gamers at the same time, but it just makes good sense to me, if they would release games that is totally made for PS2, for the PSone, also.:p Maybe not at the same time, but put them out on the market at a later date. Because, there are thousands of people like myself, that is on disibility income, and still would like to keep up with there favorite game sequel's, without having to just set back and see there favorite games made for the PS2 only. I think that if they can make the PSone games to work on the PS2 consoles,
someone could design the newer games to work on the PSone, also. This goes to show everyone, that we are not all created equal.:irked: Those of us who doesn't have money, are punished by those who do!!:p

The PSX/PSone is no longer in development. It would take them twice as long to make GT4 for PSX/PSone and PS2, because they would have to make a totally new game, to work with the limits of the old console, so it will never happen. Plus, it just wouldn't be as good as on the PS2, so PD looks at it as a lost cause, and no point of doing so.

I have just been reading my copy of the new official ps2 magazine and it says that the truth about the release date will be revealed in the next issue which the magazine says will be out on the 13th June 2003 so we may learn the release date just before that date

Would that disability be the inability to spell?

Thinking that you can port PS2 games to an older PSX system is just ignorant. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't work that way.

Its being released in 2004 as said at the E3 convention...

[EDIT] also said at the E3 convention is the PS2 Network Adapter Bundle Pack. It has not only the Netowork Adaptor and th PS2 but the PS2 will have some improvements. It will be slightly quieter and a better optical laser something.... gadget... thingy. Go to the "GT4 takes on E3 on all Cylinders" thread and click the link. Its in there somewhere...

I just can't wait to buy GT4.
Man.... I'm gonna sleep in front of the shop to make shure I'll get one!!
I'm gonna play it all day/night long!! :p

Hey Majarvis,
Yeah, I understand what you are saying about it taking longer to make the GT3 and GT4 games for the PSX/PSone, alright. But, to me, and I'm sure that other owners of the PSX/PSone would say the same, it wouldn't matter to us if it actually took longer to make the games for the PSX/PSone consoles.;) Because, no matter how long it took, we would still have the chance to keep up and buy the GT sequals, instead of not having them at all.:D And I'm sure that the games graphics wouldn't be as good as they are for the PS2 console.;) But, since the games graphics are as good as they are on the GT2 game, that was made for the PSX/PSone consoles, I'm certain they could do as well or better, if they would make these sequals for the PSX/PSone consoles. My point I was trying to make is, PD and Sony just didn't think about the people that wouldn't be able to buy the PS2 consoles at all.:irked: And in my opinion, there thoughts were, if you can't upgrade to the PS2 console, we just don't care.:p
And to the person that tells me that I don't have the ability to spell correctly, you must think that you are perfect in everything you do.:p I can assure you, you're not that perfect, either. I'm sure that you've made quiet a few typing errors before, also.:D

The reason why they won't remake this for ps1 is because they will lose money. They see the console to make money from this game and it is the ps2. If they were to release this on the ps1 not only would it take a large amount of time (which could be put into making gt5) but it would take a lot of money and since there is not a huge number of people who still play on the ps1 that do not have a ps2 they may lose money or might just make the amount which they spent on making it (if they are lucky). The key word is money . What they will be thinking is why should we remake a game for the minority of players where we can make the next game better for the majority and bring more money in.

Like dayboy2k1 said, the key word is money. But besides the fact that it would be a big money lose; it’s more or less an impossibility. It'd be like getting the latest PC 3D game to run on my commodore 64. It's just not going to happen.

Suggestion for DaddyGary_2002: Save some cash and buy a used PS2. Sell your PS1 to put money towards a PS2. Or do a BNE on someone you know has a PS2...lol...j/k :)
Cheers.

GT2 took 2 discs on the Ps One...think how many would be needed to hold all of GT4

A DVD has 4.7GB space on it. Gran Turismo 3 used up 3.43GB and you can get DVD's that are dual layered so that can give you twice the amount of data that is on a disc so I think this will be on 1 dual layered DVD disc

My point I was trying to make is, PD and Sony just didn't think about the people that wouldn't be able to buy the PS2 consoles at all. And in my opinion, there thoughts were, if you can't upgrade to the PS2 console, we just don't care.

Uh, yes. Sorry man, I hate to come across as mean about it, but come on. Last i checked no one still makes Aple IIe games or Commodore 64 games or Intellivision games.....and I loved all those old systems in their time. No one makes 1970 Dodge Chargers for that matter (shame that it is). Life moves on and you either move with it orbecome obsolete, fixed income or not.

I know it sucks, but it is the way of the world, especially these days. If you can't afford to keep up, then be happy with the games you have (GT2 still rocks IMHO).

However, even those on a fixed income can save their pennies for something they really want. If you couldn't save your money at all, how could you afford the cost of the $50.00 or more GT4 disc for a PSone anyhow?? save up if it means that much to you. Good luck.

Okay Dayboy,
I certainly understand the main thing is to make Money, alright. Everyone wants more money, from the people that only makes minimum wage, on up to the people who makes millions per year. And especially, the big companys, who makes no telling how much per year. But, if they aren't that many people who still owns the PSone, why is it that some companys are still making new games for the PSone? In my opinion, if money is losted from making the GT3 and the GT4 game for the PSone, they still would come out on top, because the money that might be losted is counted off on there taxes anyway. So, really they wouldn't be loosing that much money. It's just like I said, this is my opinion, only.
And mccalla, as far as saving up cash to buy a used PS2, I keep checking with the different pond shops around the area that I live in. And if one of the shops should happen to have a PS2 for sell, they still ask around $160.00 to $170.00 dollars for the ones they have on stock to sell. So, I don't see paying this price for the console, when you can't get a warrenty on it. So, it would be worth the extra $29.00 dollars or so to buy a new one with a warrenty, than buying a used one that doesn't. And as far as saving money to buy a PS2, even if I could sell my PSone and add that money with money that I might save, if any. The PS3 consoles would already be on the market.
And the amount of money that Uncle Sam chose to give, now that I'm disabled to work, doesn't leave to much, after paying the bills each month. And the disability that I have, I have to have someone with me at all times. So, for this reason, my wife can't work, because she has to stay with me at all times. So, our only income is what Uncle Sam sends us each month. With todays high prices on eveything, we need every penny each month to live on, after the bills are paid. It simply is hard to save money on the income we get per month. I don't mean to sound rude, but it is just hard for people to understand about trying to save money, when it takes every dollar that is left each month after paying the bills that needs to be paid in full each month, so that there is no worry that something being cut off for not paying the bills each month. So, I'll just have to be content with the PSone that I have for quiet sometime, I guess. It is just frustrating for those of us that has to live on a fix income, and can't afford the little extra's we would like to have.
And as for me knowing anyone that has a PS2, that I could use from time to time, there isn't anyone that I know of, around the area that I live in. And that takes care of that idea. I'm just glad that I was able to buy the PSone, after getting the back pay I recieved from Uncle Sam, when I had to quit work and draw the disability income.

Can some one tell me why the japanes get their copy in the fall and we haft to wait a whole year, it can not possibly take 6-8 months to covert te game to english. 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬

You make some valid points, but are they germain to GT4 in September 2003 ? Me thinks we have a hijacked thread. ;)

If you figure that GT4 is due out in at least 7 months, you can save $20-$30 a month and almost be in a position to move up when GT4 is released. If that's not realistic, maybe your computer is good enough that you could make the switch to PC based games.

Back on topic: I have to admit that it stinks that the North American market sucks hind teet when it comes to Gran Turismo releases. On the good side, at least we'll get GT4. I'm still bent over missing out on GTC.

This game is a must have game everybody will wont it:D
And yes i do hate it when they get the game 6/7 months infront:mad:    :banghead:
