I would like to see a one off track and car leader board like the top gear celebrity leader board called the Reasonably Priced Car competition.
in the show they used a mid priced ff car which was a Suzuki Liana, celebrities each week come on the show and put in there laps. top gear celb laps

I think this would be well suited to the none tinkering people of gt4 or people who don’t really know how to set cars up or don’t want the hassle.
I have tested a few tracks and cars with the idea of getting a car to use the full gear range, and put in a lap time of 1"30 to 1"50.
The track that i thought best was the Fuji speedway 80's circuit and i tried about 4 cars.
vw lupo 1.4 '02 did not get to top gear
Ford focus ST170 '03 also did not reach top gear but was good
Peugeot 203rc '03 was a good contender
Honda civic typeR (EP) '04 was perfect

This type of leader board would have to be in arcade mode, time trial on road tires with no quick tune ups etc.

So its up to the forum, is it worth it?
Is there a better track? Car?

This is much better placed in the Spot race and lap times comparison forum.

Moved, it is.

The TG Test Track has three hairpins, a sort-of chicane and some piddly straights. It's most like... Tsukuba.

The Suzuki Liana in TG reaches a peak of about 80mph, so you want a car close to this in performance. I suggest a Toyota Yaris (Vitz) Turbo.

Thx famine for the comments
I was hinting at starting a petition to include this type of challenge on the GTP site, im not trying to start one up myself but my post was moved off the leader board forums and i think it will get misinterpreted now.
But i will try the yaris

this sounds like it could be a success, whos gonna be running it?

I can't wait till this gets up and running. The toyota yaris sounds like a god car to use.

I might have to run it but gt fan has offered to help; also if it takes off i would like the GTP site to host it. The thing is i don’t have much web building knowledge and would have to update it manually this could be a massive task for me.
So if enough people show interest then i will do it but we need to decide the car and track.

Some testing is needed and im not trying to copy the top gear car or track but something similar.

You wouldn't need a website, a simple thread with a list of times would do the job. I'm not sure how we would authenticate the times submitted.

Could be fun...My car pick would be the 106 Rallye...

You could add a 'mildly moist' learderboard as well (Tsukuba wet)...

great idea gravel trap, a wet and dry track all we need now is a car. so a short list of reasonably Priced Cars is needed.
ford focus st170
civic type r
yaris turbo
Peugeot 106 rallye
any more?

Nice idea, would be a good way of getting many people to post lap times for one track with one car.

Although I think the Civic Type R is a little hot compared to a Suzuki Liana...

the 86 MR2 S/C is a slower car thats fun to drive you can try that. or an AE86 or a midget II.
