Hello, everybody,

You may or may not remember me, this is the first time I've been here for about a year and a month, I was the one who did a load of B Spec races in a Volvo S60, and was trying to run my own championship.
Just to fill you in, my figures have now gone up to some 35,100 miles of B Spec testing and racing, more than 1100 races done, 650 of which have been wins.
You will have to excuse me if this has been done before, or if I've made a mistake about where to post it.

Does anyone feel like taking up a challenge? If so, here it is.

Take the car of your choice, and the circuit of your choice. Make sure you let a moderator, or person know when you are starting the challenge. Then over a set period of time, which you can choose, run the car into the ground, around as many circuits as possible, for as long as possible, A Spec or B Spec, and then come back and tell us where your overall mileage for that car has gone up to. We can start a league table of whose gone furthest, and who has driven the most.

For example, I have just started a practice of this with my brother. I am using a Volvo S60, and have so far done around 300 miles with it at Test Course and Tokyo R246.

One other thing, you may use x3 acceleration to speed things up.

Do let me know what you think about it, and if you would like to do something like that. I realise for some people it might be boring and unexciting, I just thought it might be a nice challenge. I got the idea of a mate, who has GT4, and he has managed (wait for this) 150,000 miles just on the F1 car alone!!

So who can beat that? Who can set a new record for most miles? Let's try and get a competition (friendly of course) going.

Ali.

Without even taking up your challenge, and I do like the sound of it - my beloved Amuse S2000 R1 has covered some 802.6miles without B-spec ever getting to drive it. But I don't fancy running that into the ground!!

I shall find a choice motor, and report back. It will have a fair few ponies behind it however - otherwise I'll get bored.:dopey:

Hi Renesis Evo,

That's fine. There is no limit to the horsepower, size of car, or engine size, or anything. It's no holds barred racing, pushing the cars to their limits and the good old friendly competition.

So far this morning, my S60 has completed 54 laps of Tokyo R246, which means it's mileage is up to 167.4 miles. Early days, but watch this space!!!

Sorry, the mileage on the S60 is actually 443.1 miles, I did some other testing with it yesterday.
I am just switching to my old faithful: the other Volvo, the 240 GLT, which I have had since the first day of GT4. I got it 2nd hand, and now it has 69,647 miles on the clock.
It's going to the Nurburgring for a mighty test.

Sorry to urinate on your bonfire here, but...

This might render your challenge redundant. It's a nice idea though.

My Goodness! My heartfelt congratulations for that remarkable achievement, that person now has a challenger!! It may take a while, but I'm on the chase.

OK, am taking my 240 to the Test Course, to start the longest sustained running I have ever put on it.

Wish me luck. I am going to get to that 1,000,000 MILES target. Even if it takes me ages.

Hmmm. It's my 18th birthday this weekend, so I can finish this just before my 118th!!!

That was almost solely B-spec however... I've been A-speccing mine, since I refuse to let B-spec Bob have more miles under his belt than me. I did start with a Mini Cooper in British Racing Green - but I accidently crashed at Trial Mountain, causing no end of damage and losing the race!! So I've lost a fair bit of mileage now.

can any body tell me why people choose a 240 GLT Estate to get as many kms as possible on his odometer? :dunce:
but same thing with mine. :sly:
it's one of my favorite fun cars and i got about 700 kms on it (a-spec only).

Dang! It would sure be nice if the garage listed mileage and you could sort by it. If this were GT3, I know it was the first car I owned, a Sprinter Trueno that raced the oval oh, so many times.

I have no idea what it is now that I'm on GT4, but If I were to start such a competition, I'd probably run a Minolta on the test track. Or perhaps the F1 car, because there are no oil changes.

Oh... wait... No oil changes allowed?!?!:scared:

If you are going by the rules of my challenge, you can change the oil after every 500,000 miles, which is every 800,000 kilometres.

And it doesn't matter if you are using an F1 car, a Mazda 787B or a Honda breadvan, you choose your car. You can make any setup changes you wish.

I think I might be the winner of this - but in a few years time!

I am driving everycar in the game for at least 200 miles, more if I need/love the car - starting from the lowest bhp and working upwards, (i have been doing this since i got the game back in march when it came out in UK, yes i know im very patient), right now i am driving a mazda kusabi (so i am around the 150bhp mark, starting from 1bhp).

I have completed just 47% of the game for over a years playing time - sure it isn't alot but when i see people who have finished the game in a matter of weeks it just seems they haven't taken in the game atall, at the rate im going at i shall have completed my saga in 2009, about the time GT5 might come out?

good luck with the million miles - that volvo certinely has alot of character, and you've gotta love the suspension under braking - the car turns into a mobile fireworks display.

Volvo 240s are reknowned for exceptional reliability. There are several examples in real life that have covered over a million miles/km - in fact I think there are even clubs for million-mile Volvos.

my Audi R8 Le Mans car has covered 10000+ miles from new in Aspec and Bspec, but seeing this thread has convinced me to get a new car and start again. I'll post again when i have got started.

Saab 900's are also very reliable, my Mums new one has over 300,000 miles on the clock and still going strong

I know I'm far from having the highest-mileage car on GTP, but I've always been fairly proud of my original Audi R8 (Red #1 - 2005 - The Old One) on my old save. 2,250 miles right now, and Bob has never even polished her. Every single mile is mine, 750 or so in the ESES and about 500 of them covered in excess of 300mph
