Whenever I pop in GT4 in my PS2, it never works. I have one of the first model Playstation 2s that were build. Does that have any affect to the game? I take care of my console systems and games in perfect condition so I know there are no problems of scratches. The only modification I have on my PS2 is a Swap hardtop, in which it allows gamers to swap in import games without resetting the PS2. Does that have any effect? Please help! I did a search, and did not find any answers. I want to play GT4 as soon as possible.

Well when i had my old PS2, that big fat one...it would only play certain games. The only way i would play a game that wouldn't work is to turn the "Old Counsel" on different sides. Hold it in a certain direction in any u can think of. Thats what i did when i had my old cousel until bought the new Slim PS2. God i love that thing its so small and so easy to take it to places. I would insist you buy one cause they seem much more faster and are also able to play CD-R's DVD+R's and such. But that is my advice to you buddy... flip your ps2 around maybe it'll work. Good luck to u. I would be very upset if i couldn't get my GT4 working on my PS2 :grumpy: :grumpy:

Older PS2 models have troubles reading dual layer DVD games, GT4 been one. It's either you send it to Sony so they ajust the laser or you buy a new slim one. Sucks I know.

send it to sony is cheaper than buying a new one trust me prolly its just a dirty lens, the sending will be 10 dollars and the fixing will be 20, which about 119 dollars less than buying a new slim one.

I assume it's giving you a disc-read error, if that's the case, then cleaning your lens will fix the problem 99 times out of 100.

I have an old style PS2 also, and it wasn't playing GT4 for me when I got it, my problem was a dirty lens. I took apart my PS2 and cleaned it all in the span of 30 minutes. Before you go shell out the cash for a new PStwo, or even waste the time of mailing your playstation to sony, you should try to clean the lens yourself.

You can do it yourself pretty easily, and all you need is some mini-screwdrivers, a regular screwdriver, q-tips, and rubbing alcohol.

Here's a guide that takes you through the process step by step. http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars

Thanks everyone! I'll try it when I get home tomorrow. Yes, I have never got a chance to clean the interior of the PS2, and most of the games give me DISC READ ERRORS. Again, thanx for the help.!
