I assume you mean "put the playstation output on the PC screen". It is quite easy...

You have to have a video card (or input device) that supports video input. For example the ATI All In Wonder will do it, but one that can also play today's games might cost you $200-300. There are other devices that you install in addition to the video card and that might be cheaper and possibly a better idea.

Basically... go to a place with a large selection of computer stuff and ask a salesperson what they have for "analog video input" from TV, VCR, DVD to your PC.

Good luck.

Yeah, good luck finding such a place with people who would actually be able to answer such a question. :D

Honestly though, if you have S-video or even better, component, there's really no reason to run the thing on a PC monitor. As avid a PC gamer as I am my favorite part of console games is being able to kick back and play them on my nice 27" TV :sly:

i have some rca cable, good quality but it suck, is S-video will be better? if i can see a good difference ill go with that, i have a JVC 27'' flat screen I'art
but i cant play in 1080i, the pc screen will?

and my pc screen is 19"

thx

don't listen to them dude.

I've been playing GT4 on my computer screen for the last 2 weeks, and its pretty cool.

You probably want to do it because

a. your pc sound system rocks
b. your tv blows
c. you want to record videos of replays, drifts, etc. from your ps2 right on to your PC (this is how all the drift vids on this forum are made)

you need to buy a tv tuner card for your pc. It is a PCI card, so it will likely work with your pc, no matter what videocard you have.

A tv tuner consist of composite-in (yellow cable, found on ps2), svideo-in, audio-in, etc.

It allows you to watch tv, dvds, xbox, ps2, dreamscast, etc on your pc monitor.

I would suggest a MSI TV @nywhere tv tuner.

When I bought mine 1 year ago, it was about 50$ american.

Just search for "tv tuner" on various sites including mysimon, bestbuy, etc.

the tv tuner takes care of the video aspect of playing ps2 on your monitor. Now you need to think about audio.

You need 2 things.

1. A composite audio Y-cable
2. 2 double ended female composite converters

You will plug this setup into the "line in" port on your soundcard so that you can here sounds from your ps2 on your pc's sound system

jason, i want to thank you 👍

im fix now, pc screen!! :dopey:

thx for the great info, clear, simple

I don't know if you should head down the T.v. tuner route, at least any of the USB versions (especially anything from eBay). :grumpy:

i have a fx5700le from nvidia, theres withTV out DVI-I

can it work?

My console sound system rocks. :sly:

All my consoles plug directly into my home theater A/V receiver, mmm surround sound.

I mean if you wana do it go for it, but for me nothing beats having a nice big eyeful of track and being able to feel my subwoofer rattling the floor under my feet as the wind blows by my car at 200 mph. :D

Great ideals there, never thought about the possibility of recording replays or even live races by means of computer tv video card. I do not have a tv card but have allways thought about getting one. Wonder if the cheap ones are any good. Would a person be able to directly save the photo pics to computer via tv card, if so would they be of same quality as doing it the way most have to ?

my tv both sucks and blows if thats possible. Its 32cm, has dual speaker ( w00t) but.. hang on, no sorry one speaker, what i thought were speakers was merely paint-to-make-it-look-like-two-speakers... :(

who needs to run it through a tiny Monitor when you can have one of these:

excuse the mess, i cant be arsed cleaning :sly:

search. that's what you need to do right now.
When people say they tried to search before posting, how about giving them some tips? Don't give them the answer, but tell them some things to look for and how to restrict the search.

Reserve the shouts for people who obviously haven't even tried to help themselves.

hahaha yes sir !

my mom points it out to me and asks 'how can you even see through that' every time she walks in. :dopey:

I thought that USB devices were faster than the PCI interface ?
Usb devices transfer data at 400+ mbps ?
Firewire is also faster than USB isnt it ?

I have an old cheap USB capture device that does better than a tv tuner card I have, they are both old and not pricey but ...

Is there an interface card or device for the PC that can be used w\ the optical output on the PS2 ? I really dont know anything about it other than its said to offer better quality ..

dont know, im lost too, what is that usb device you talk about? what it is and how it work? :)

thx

i just bought the s-video cable (for tv) from madcatz, its better but im sure on a PC screen it should be a lot more, and i want to do video :scared:

I'm running my PS2 signal to a DVD recorder's analog input with everything running out the DVD's S-Video. It works better than analog-in straight to the TV and I can record races to DVD and rip them onto my PC as MPG files. Pretty complicated, but that's what I have laying around.

I had hooked the PS2's analog to a PC LCD monitor. Looked alot worse than my tube TV.

If you want high definition quality on your monitor then you could buy those expensive transcoders like the VD~Z3 Enhanced, but then your monitor would need to support it. So it might be better to get a capture card, and plus, you can record the video as well.

I would stick to PCI capture cards as they have better transfer rates at 133MB/s as opposed to USB2’s 60MB/s (480Mb/s), and you would also get lag with the USB which isn’t ideal for playing a game.

I’ve been searching around for good TV tuners for a while, and I’ve narrowed it down to these two. They both offer significantly high picture quality, performance and features at a good price.

This Hauppauge PVR has been a very popular choice for a long time, unlike the Pinnacle, it features hardware encoding which takes the strain off the CPU. However the software is not as good as the Pinnacle but it does its job fine (personally I find it quite good). Plus it has a remote!

The Pinnacle PCTV Pro is also a very good buy, especially as people say it has better picture quality than the Hauppauge, but it does not feature hardware encoding meaning that the CPU has to work at 100%. On the other hand it comes with better software.

thx, but can i still keep my video card (nvidia 5700) ?

excellent :dopey:

i just call a friend, his brother sell used part (for pc) and he got some tv tuner card,
anyone will work? with S-video in

nice,

thank you for the info, ill keep you inform if it work.
