Yesturday I was thinking about Gt4 and how you could go online and race people. Then all of a sudden it hit me, if you could race people from around the country then you could be able to battle drift people. (or Dirft to gather as a group)

The reason for putting this thread up was to see how many people would like to drift as a group or battle.

Plus i wanted to know, who wants to race me in my Toyota Supra (twin turbo R) when it comes out. :D

ill be up for some drifting in GT4 online when it comes out. hopefully ill make a name or 2 for online mode, then startup a team. but im down for some drifting when it comes out.

OH yeah online drifting...that would be so kewl...i wonder if ppl can spectate? that way ppl could judge on stuff....ohh crapp....i need to bye a modem for my p2s stilll ....well better get crakin

I hope I dont need broadband for GT4 online. I dont know how well it will work without it but i'll try it. What do you need to buy to be able to play online?

i don't even have the adapter.. do any of you guys know how much it costs in US?

anyways.. if i get one, i'll LAN it with my cable =]

drift battle sounds cool, we can do more of twin or triple or quadoptle, or even MULTI drift online... we wouldn't have to send videos for challenges or GTPD?W (i forget). we can just do it online..

how about a GTP Team? don't you think we should have one? like initials Ds.. (akina, nightkids.. red suns.. emperor.. project D) that'd be cool.

god.. i no longer can wait for GT4. ima go commit suidice..

PlayStation 2 Network Adapter go's for about 39.99, so lets say 40 bucks...depending....but i say go look for some preownd one...they only go for something around 19.99. i think you'll goin to need a Ethernet/modem.... or some thing like that...try searching places like game stop or do a google search ...... i would think that you would need a broadband connection though, i'm not 100% sure

thanks RX-7_FC_Drifter..

okay.... i hope i don't get you two (FC drifter/FD drifter) mixed up.
i saw one at gamestop.. used one. it was about 20 bucks.

ive heard that spectators will be in. i would hate to see any game run online with 56K.
a GTP team would be pretty sweet also, id prob join.

YES 100% NEED BROADBAND
here in the uk you can get a ps2 modem for £29.99
so you lot in the states should be able to get them for $30 max
you get everything a lot cheaper over there we get ripped off
🤬 british goverment sucks money grabin bastards
OH YEH COME ON GT4 IM WEARING MY CARPET IN MY ROOM OUT WALKING UP AND DOWN WAITING FOR IT

donrevey
YES 100% NEED BROADBAND

👎 👎 AWW MAN!!!! I hope your not right LOL oh well gives my brother a reason to start paying for Cable EHHEHEHE,.. as far as drifting online i already thought of that... just waitin for it to come out so i can do it.. HAHAH.. might be awhile...

... This has been discussed before... and yes ADSL is needed for ALL PS2 games that are online compatible.

How do you route it, I havent installed my PS2 lan adaptor, I got it with a bundle and its in a box somewhere, I was a big time GT3 player, and now that 4 is comming out in Nov. Im getting back into it. Do you run it to your computer and network it out, or run it thru a hub?

I would like to start up a team. But most of the cars that i'll probemly be Drifting will be toyota's so the only name to call it really is the toyota drifters.

I think that touge battles would be really fun. If I woudn't take part in the drifting then i would like to follow behind in a Mitsubishi Evo5 or 6 or maybe even an 8

And if everyone would start making up Drift groups, I think that there should be some Grip groups to. I wouldn't mind being in one or racing someone that would grip race. I guess only time i'll tell.

Yea, I got my network adapter for the back of my ps2, and I even got cable internet just to play GT4 when it comes out....and everyone is probably fight over team captains and stuff on teams........I'm just looking forward to beat simulation mode, than I'll play online.....unless online play is going to be better.

One of the only reasons that i'm getting Gt4 is so that i can play with a 90's (JZA70) Twin turbo Supra. After i get one, I'll buy another one so that i can have one set for Drift and one for Grip.
-That will be the Day- (And when i actually get the car)

What relly interests me when considering the chance to drift against other people in real time, would be "how do you judge?".

I can see a gentlemens agreement between two people, but I don't think there'd be too many of those, and they'd most all likely degenerate into a considerable argument. However, if there was a computer controlled judging display and you were able to run two cars at a time, you'd have a much better and more intense, concentrated experience in a drift competition.

It'll be interesting to see how that comes to fruition.

This is how i would judge it... I would grip behind the people drifting along with another grip driver to make sure that I didn't miss anything.

There would be a Gentlemens agree, It would be held in classes
160-230HP} Normal tires or Sims (Or agree on others)
235-300HP} Normal or Sims or Sports tires (Or agree on others)
300-370HP} (would have to agree on tires)
370-440HP} (would have to agree on tires)
440-540HP} (would have to agree on tires)
Anything beyond this, is anything goes. (Would have to agree on tires)

If I was judging the Drift, there could only be 2 or 3 Drifts at a time (unless i have another grip driver)

[If i do Judge, I will problemly be Grip Driving in a Evo5 or 8]

If i do Juge i don't think that i'll judge anything over 540HP

Hah! most people are flat out getting the normal GT4 date. Does that mean you have to buy a whole new game just to play online? That'd stink and if you need broadband, i dont think i'll be drifting with anyone.
