I have tried to do some research on this subject and have found nothing. What are GT4's projected sales for 04' - 05'? What were GT3"s? And if they are going to be affected by games such as Halo 2??

If anyone has any info on this it would help, links... etc.

If it ever comes out that is.

Funny graphic, but calling people names here is not tolerated. It will get you a warning, and if it continues, you will be banned. The maker of this thread did nothing to warrant that immature outburst of yours. If I see you do it again, I'll report you to the moderators.

Still a little sore after the Punk Rock incident eh Solid?

Edit: Hey Solid, as this thread is about as meaningful as the British monarchy, what guitar are you playing presently?

No, because I do feel that Punk Rock was correct, for the most part. The problem is, people here can be very rude to each other, and it makes things worse. So, instead of having people resort to fend off personal attacks by themselves, I feel that we should stick up for each other, and report any violations to the moderators when it occurs. Maybe this place wont be such a frustrating place to visit and participate in and will let the moderators know who is causing the most problems.

True, this thread can be called stupid, or worthless, but that doesn't mean you can hurl insults to the maker of the thread.

Today, I used the EBMMEVH, and I'm still waiting for my Peavey Special Custom Deluxe Wolfgang. It's been about six months now, since I ordered it.

Hurl insults?? Maybe your use of the word ‘you’ was generalised. No matter.

I’m currently enjoying early 90’s les paul.

Yes, the "you" was a general, uspecified "you" and not directed at anyone particular.

I had a 90's Les Paul, but I traded it in for the EBMMEVH. I still would like to own one, but there is no need to spend over 3 grand on a guitar I know I wont play all that much. I love the EBMMEVH that much! I'm thinking of getting rid of my other guitars, since I never touch them. But I'm keeping them for my kids, to see if they want them. If not, then out they'll go. I meant the guitars, not my boys. :)

Agreed.

As for sales projections, companies don't usually release that information, even after release. The only mention we've heard is conjecture around the industry that GT4 will be one of the top-selling PS2 games of all time. Sounds reasonable to me. I'll be chipping in my fifty bucks, at any rate.

All I think PD will aim to do is beat the sales of GT3 which were very very extensive......it was once of the most games sold on PS2 in that year...up there with the likes of GTA3.....

They may even target to beat GT1, 2 and 3's sales all together!.......after all, they have spent alot of time and money making GT4 and they will want a huge return on that........

There will be no problem.....GT sells itself.....it will be shifted by the truck load..... :scared:

This is going to be an approximation not based on scientific theory or marketing knowledge (in other words, what's wrong with guessing?).

To me, the projected sales for GT4 would have one very big X-factor besides the anticipation of this game: the fans of the GT series. To me, sales figures for at least one month, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that something between $500,000 USD and $1,000,000 USD in the first month alone. GT4 has long been a work in progress and with the release of this game, it will mean a lot for GT fans to get a chance to take this modern-day legend and drive the life out of GT4, whether with the Dualshock 2 controller or the lovely new Logitech wheel. I'm thinking about getting that Logitech wheel and selling my old PS1 and N64 compatible wheel so I can have a steering wheel for the Playstation 2, but I may not be able to have it for PS1 racing games because they don't support PS1 games (of course, I don't know a lot about this steering wheel). The game will sell very well, but as I said, it will depend on the public. When Kazunori Yamauchi spreaded the news that GT4 will not have online play (beyond an LAN) this year, an earthquake was sent across some of the fans of the series. If the public will put their money into getting GT4 regardless of online play, the game will sell very well and perhaps sell 100,000 to maybe 250,000 units either worldwide or in America within one month.

But to announce a different situation, if GT4 included online play this year, the game would probably sell much more because people cannot wait to take GT4 online, and I have no problem with that. And if this happened, $500,000 to $1,000,000+ USD in the first month alone. PD's going to make some mad money off of this thing, you dig me, homies?

lol, are they not sticking with the December 4th date?? I thought that was the newest date

Last I saw, which was today, is the release date to be December 14, 2004.

Japan - December 4th, 2004
America - December 14th, 2004

That is the release date that was announce at a Tokyo Gaming Show yesterday morning.

There are a total of _over_ 35 million GT copies sold, all versions, since the first release. (That's all the info I ever see - total sales number, all versions.) Keep in mind that there is approximately one copy of GT for every two PS2 consoles worldwide.

There are approximately 25 million US PS2 consoles (not sure if that number includes Canada). We are also their biggest GT market.

Let's "guess" that between one quarter and one third of the currently active PS2 owners will seriously consider buying either the 2004 off-line version and/or the 2005 on-line version. (Not every console owner is into racing/driving games... nor may they be willing to buy all versions of GT4, while some may buy both.) It's also anyone's guess as to how long the initial demand with sustain itself - let's say one year after on-line.

If we all follow through with sales, that's 6,250,000 to well over 8,000,000 copies sold, in the US/C region alone, over the next two years.

Close enough? Regardless of my accuracy, sales will be "high".

Cheers,

MasterGT

If we (the NA market) got the biggest $$$ on their pie, why not they released GTC and GT4P in the past?

Thats plain stupidity, if you asked me. :dunce:

Well i was off the sight for the last few days, and didnt know what kind of fight ensued on my thread. But thanks MasterGT, very helpful, and others who did contribute to the discussion.

oh, and thanks for getting my back Solid Lifters, but i understand that there is always going to be one As.s.hole that pipes up. So, go to HELL Vicky.

The Vanishing Boy- I wonder the same thing alot of the time. It almost seems like they didn't want to make money, because the NA market would shurly have at least 35% of the GT4 market, so it just makes sense to sell it everywhere.

To give you another clue as to how it will sell, this was said about GT3:

"With sales in Japan having exceeded 1,000,000 in its first two days on the market..."
Digital Producer Magazine, undated issue

Rest assured that GT4 will sell better than that - everywhere.

Cheers,

MasterGT

It's looks like a lot of people are throwing numbers everywhere. Here is the official sales for the past editions:

* Worldwide sales – Gran Turismo: more than 10.8 million; Gran Turismo 2: more than 9 million;
* Gran Turismo 3 A-spec: more than 12.9 million (Includes GT3 Racing Pack)

My prediction for GT4: 18 million. :D

Nobody is "throwing numbers" around anywhere. Your figures total to 32.7 million copies and that jives with older figures, too. The most recent figures I saw were a total of over 35 million and that is not much different than yours. The total sales figures is an ever moving target and that number is still growing at an impressive rate.

So, for which time period is your GT4 "prediction" and is it going to represent the on-line version, too?

Cheers,

MasterGT
