The following is based on Top Gear's roadtrip through America in it's final episode of Series 9. I'll be steadily updating this as the days come, so this is the first part.

Day 1
Today's the day we get to have a little fun. Two friends of mine - one named Phil and the other one Curtis - had always wanted to go on a roadtrip of some sorts, so we all decided that this was going to be it. We had a budget of 6,000Cr each, which we were using to buy our temporary cars for the time away.

Me first then, I got up on the day of departure to have a look around. There was a dealership nearby that sold "imports", so I went over and had a look. Unfortunately, he didn't have anything suited to my budget, so I went home and started looking through some online car selling websites. I saw an ad for a pre-1990's Mazda RX-7, which seened like it was unique in its own ways. After I got in contact with the owner, it was the words "buy the car, no matter what" that got me handing out the folding stuff. Below is the picture that had me sold.

It was perfect. Sleek, 2-door, and something completely different to the Audi A3 in my driveway. The engine was a 654x2 turbocharged rotary producing 200 horsepower. With the redline at 8000rpm, I was sure this would be an extremely joyful ride.

After making the purchase, I took the car down to our local testing track. Pondering my decision for a while, I decided it would be a good idea to have some reminders for when we get on the road. I then paid a small sum of money to the track's photographer to take some pictures of the car, all while drinking a coffee and trying to call my friends to ask about their purchases.

Now believe me when I say this- I do not know what got into Phil's mind when he told me what he had bought.

"It's... a Volvo"
"Well, that's acceptable I guess"
"No no, it gets worse. It's a 240GLT."
"Is that the big one?"
"The stationwagon one, yeah"
"Why on Earth.."
"...well, I need a place to sleep"
"A place to sleep."
"Hasn't Curtis told you the rules? We can't stay at a hotel for the length of our trip, we have to camp in our cars"
"Well now you tell me you idiot! Oh god..can I sleep with you then?"

Unfortunately, I didn't get an answer. He seemed to have hung up. Bastard....
