Joe50, over at the SCEA forums, came up with this obvious Photo Mode idea for 3D-like image pairs. I looked for examples here, but didn't see any threads (unless I was still cross-eyed). For the uninitiated, you look at the image pairs either wall-eyed or cross-eyed. It won't work if you do it backwards. Short to medium distances work best.

There is now a 3D viewer for the PSP, so how long before we get a 3D GT or other similar driving game for 3D glasses?

Overlap the images "in your head" to see depth.

Most people do it better either wall-eyed or cross-eyed, so pick a method and give it a shot. Just use the right pair. The first time you do this may take a while, maybe half an hour, to "get it".

when i was about 6 years old in 1st grade we has these books called magic eye. everybody wanted to check this book out from the school library. it was some weird colored pictures on the page. you had to put your nose right on the page and slowly pull it back and try not to focus on the page. then the image will pop out. nobody could do it so we would just cross our eyes. its the same concept as this so im pretty good at it. the bottom one works the best for me. its very cool 👍

PERFECT BALANCE
Thats cool, how do you do it?
The same way any stereoscopic picture is made.

Two slightly horizontally shifted viewpoints, assembled side by side.
Experiment. If it is too wide, it will look weird.

okay matt look between the bottom 2 pics at the border. cross your eyes untill you see a 3rd pic in the middle and focus on it. it will be in 3d kindof

hey cool idea man the last one work best for me. Kinda reminds me of some books I once read in grade 6 where u have 2 dots and u have to cross eyes to join the 2 dots. Once u can join the 2 dots the pic above will look 3D. However in the case of these pics theres no dots but can still be done. Just have to join the 2 pics together by crossing your eyes :odd:

Ha, that is so cool. :D Like you're really there. :)

Both pics worked for me, using both methods.

The easiest way is to print these pics out with one side reversed, then put a mirror between your eyes.

tougemonster
 keep doing this too long and my eyes goes funny but I don't know about hte mirrow thing.
No, a mirror would not help. The old stereoscopic viewers had a divider of wood part way down the middle, so if someone needs to seperate each eye's view, a simple piece of card or paper, even a ruler, will do that.

Someone opened a thread with similar kind of stuff long time ago
but his method requires red/blue glasses
the one you made works for me with correct depth order
because I use cross eye all the time
but most of the time I see them in reverse depth .. very strange

hey thats cool, i can do it with the one on the bottom, but the wall-eyed one is a little tougher.

All i know is I unfocused my eyes to look at it and now my eyes wont focus back agian, lol.... actually not lol. :scared:

okay they focused back again. I took forever though. i was sitting here trying too see what i was typing for a minute or two before it started coming back. that scared me a little, phew.

Well, now if you have 3D glasses (the red blue ones) you can see some pics in my gallery that are in 3D. SO far nobody's seen my Lotus Elise, but maybe you guys would like to see it. :) I did write a tutorial but it's pretty crappy, I'll write a better one when I get a chance.
