GT4 widescreen mode question, NOT 1080i or 480p related!

I did a search on this but did not find anything. My question is does GT4 have a regular widescreen mode like GT3? I'm asking because I'm getting a new TV (not HD) and was looking at Sharp's 27" 4:3 flat screen that has V-compression, which let's you see 16:9 sources in their native resolution. I would really like to play GT4 in widescreen but not necessarily HD. Sounds like I could with this TV if GT4 has the same option as GT3. I missed out on playing GT3 in widescreen since I just have a regular 4:3 TV.

If it does, will it display all menu screens and in game in 16:9? I hope it's not like 1080i/480p where it only displays in-game. The drawback of the V-compression feature is that you cannot switch it on the fly, once selected you need to turn off the TV to change to 4:3 again (kind of odd). It would not be worth it if I had to keep switching off the TV between races!

I just wanted to know if I should spend the extra $30 for the V-compression model, but more importantly, will I finally be able to play it in widescreen?!?! I may even go up to the 32" if that's the case :)

Any input on this will be appreciated.

Yes, the game has widescreen. In fact, these days, it's harder to find a game that doesn't.

As for switching back and forth.. I think the menus, or rather, the menu options are still in 4:3, but if the demos are anything to go by, the cars are always 16:9, even when selecting them.

On the flip side, having a 4:3 image, particularly in the menus, stretched to 16:9 is really no big deal. The text will appear a little wider than usual, that's all. Hardly anything to get worked up about.

The whole game gets displayed in 16:9 widescreen goodness on my widescreen TV, just like every other game I play.

GT4 has native widescreen.
