I have a 10G 2.5" external hdd with usb interface.I took some pics of my Nike'c car and save them into it.What a surprise GT4 made a folder named GT4 and put all the pics there.....I'm very happy. Now I can dump thousands of pics inside the hdd.

This is a general question for anybody:

Do only 2.0 USB flash drives work for Photo Mode or will the older (32MB and below) 1.1 drives work?

What brand/model is it?

My 10G 2.5" hdd is quite an old one been with me for 3yrs.The brand is Fujitsu.I put it into an external casing which I forgot the brand name.My casing supports USB 2.0 and 1.1.I think that, as long as it is an USB type storage GT4 will save the Photo Mode pics into it.

Any USB drive should work.

The "U" in USB does stand for Universal...

The ports on the PS2 are 1.1 only - USB has a nice forward / backward compatibility thing going - So I guess it'll wrrk ;)

That's very good news, tot31. Thank you. As soon as I get some more dough, I'll buy a external HDD exclusively for GT4. I wonder if we'll be able to save replays.... :D :) 👍

You wont - You'll still need some form of capture device to get the replays off the PS2 in anything but .max, .xps or other saveformats...

Anyone know if you can transfer the Photomode images from memory card to PC via a SharkPort? This would indeed be some useful information, especially since i have a SharkPort.

Although GT4 wont be in the US for a while.. Haha.

I highly doubt it... Just a couple of 1280x960 HQ Jpegs would fill your memcard very fast.. Possible - but unlikely..

Well i believe that photo mode pics can be stored on the memory card... Also, a high quality jpeg wouldnt be too much bigger than around 400kb. You could store about 10 or so of them on 1 memory card easily..

Only pics can be save to USB storage not the replays.Anyway I just remember the brand name of my external 2.5" hdd enclosure. It is Cutie.

Here is the link

Somebody posted somewhere that you can save photomode pics on a (compatible) USB device as well as on the memory card. The pics you save on the memcard will be reduced in quality and pushed down to something around 100kB, whereas the pics saved on USB can reach 350kB and more.

Anyway, I doubt you can transfer the pics on the memcard via SharkPort, but then again I'm no SharkPort expert. You can use a MaxDrive though, but if you want the full quality, you should rather save the pics to the USB device directly instead of saving them on the memcard and then transfer them by USB.

I remember reading that the actual picture isn't saved to the memory card. Instead, it saves information such as location, car, car location, camera location, etc., thus saving space. This is also why it is suppose to take a while to print. So that sharkport save would be useless.

Somebody told me this too, but it's just wrong. It may be that you can also save your photomode pics only as stats, but usually they're beings saved as JPEGs.

Oh, well I guess that may have been their original plan, or just pure speculation...
