Uhm, you guys are very rude to this car...
It handles very well for what it is. Very well. Hop into a muscle car, do a few laps around this track, then come back to this new mustang GT. Then tell me what you think...
And yes Metar, although, this track makes that turn a rush in almost any car... But, you can go through the kink right before it at full throttle if you get it right in this combo, and that is also definitely a bit of a rush while trying to get your speed back down the right amount, and getting the car in the right spot after you've dropped your speed.
And for those of you complaining about understeer, I have MUCH more oversteer to complain about than understeer this week. You have to drive it somewhat like the FWD beast last week actually(sort of?). Brake(or coast) early(key to any week basically), then slightly get on it and carry it around.
Track run through:
1. Right kink before the long left sweeper: You CAN take this flat out, but you have to be precise, and make sure you get on the brakes at the right time. And you have to be very close to every wall involved, for the entrance, apex, and exit(you'll be on the brakes right around there). That being said, it isn't THAT much slower if you let off a bit to help the car turn in there.
2. Long sweeper: You should have a bit of speed from coming off the previous corner, so you'll want to be tucked on the inside at first, brake in an almost straight line bringing you to the outside of the sweeper, then power your way out of the turn fighting to get back to the inside of the turn. Lifting a LITTLE may be neccessary, not lifting is obviously faster, but you want to stay on the left side of the track after you exit more than you want to go super fast on the exit here. Play with braking points and lines to find what works for you. I'm dropping down to 70mph or maybe a tad less here after the braking's done. Third gear.
3. Right kink of sorts: Being far to the left is very important for this turn, and the next sharp left. Do what you need to do in the long sweeper before to get at least to the left half of the track before this turn. Tap the brakes before entry and power through. If you start far enough outside at the beginning of the turn, you can maintain speeds of over 80mph(and you want to). Third gear.
4. The following sharp left: the key here is making sure you're doing the outside-inside-outside(obviously), with emphasis on starting WIDE on the outside for all of the turns before it. If you take the previous turns right, you can get to the right half of the track on entrance to this turn. Shoot for the inside and brake down to around 50mph(+-2 or 3 depending on line and skill), drop it in second gear, stay off the inside rumbles, play with throttle and steering to get you around the corner without losing much speed. Some slight sideways action may be on the platter.
5. Right kink: Nothing special about this really, except it depends on how you go through the previous turn, (what's new?

). Third gear, should be able to power through it, hug the inside while being light with the steering input so as to not scrub unneccessary speed.
6. Left-right esses: I'm still in third gear, lift a little(maybe tap the brakes if you'd like), start wide, apex a little late on the left, yank the steering device back to the right to clip the apex of the following right turn, powering through after the initial turn in for the left. Play with speeds/apexes so that you don't hit the outside wall near T1, and watch out for that damn wall that sticks out at you! Run up to the top of third gear, do not shift into 4th unless you're going really fast and want the shift to help you stay off of the outside wall. Going down to around 90-93mph here.
7. Right "kink": Third gear, drop down to around 80mph or maybe a little less, hit the apex a little late so you can get a good fast line through the following left. I lift a little in the middle of this turn sometimes to stay on the inside to prepare for the next turn.
8. Left "kink": Still in third gear, lift for a second to turn in and get to the inside enough so that you can power on through and out of the turn without hitting the outside wall.
9. Left hairpin: Get on the brakes right around where you crest the little hill there, drop into second gear, feather the throttle a bit, use as little steering input as possible to allow you to use more rubber for maintaining speed/accelerating to get around the corner. Stay off of the inside rumble, it'll only make you spin the rear wheels. I'm getting down to 32ish mph here sometimes.
10. Double right combo: Third gear the whole time. Hit the corner on the right basically going straight, drive over the rumbles, go wide to the outside on the left afterwards, then cut back in to the right and cut the rumbles on that corner again. Play with lifting off and a slight brake tap before the second right portion before T2.
11. Right kink, left kink, sharp right: I'm in fourth gear on entry, tap the brakes a bit to get your speed down and into third, power through the first right kink, get on the brakes right around the left kink to slow down to around 50-55mph, drop into second gear, feather the throttle as needed to not spin the wheels too much for the sharp right.
12. Final right sweeper: I'm in third gear here, you CAN get around the turn just by lifting a little bit to help you point towards the inside and then power on through, or you can use the brakes to shave off that initial bit of speed to power through. Using as little input as neccessary on the exit will give you a higher exit speed which is ALWAYS what you want before a long straightaway. I'm dropping down to 63-67mph depending on which method I take, and what I do with the throttle in the middle of the turn.
Oooooook then... What started out as just mentioning where I use second gear evolved into that beast. Some of it will be obvious to many of you, some of it won't be to others. Enjoy, and ignore as neccessary...
