Stewards Comments:

I was intending to post this last night, but after deciding to change the track and settings (for the third time) I now actually think this one will be a very enjoyable combo. I hope you think the same. :)

  • Those who have .xps or .sps files, can they please convert them to .max before submission

This is one cool combo. Car has understeer for all those corners after t2. I think thats good...? Div 3...The early corners in the lap can be taken with finese, the mid lap corners with speed so this combo's got a lot of fun and academics as well. I think after t2 will be my problem area this week. Looks like another fun week. Thanks Sphinx.

with lots to improve, but only 4 laps so far

19.311
52.561

Welcome there alhajoth. Nice splits

My new splits

18.853
50.877

250 gearing
this combo is addicting, I'm just goind around and around and arou....

Question for the Steward or anyone else before I get too deep into this. I've set the car for +6% and it does read 333hp however on the replay it reads: "334 hp":ouch: Clarification please!

That's fine, Ron 👍

Here are the test splits for this combo:

18.545
50.683

Yeah that seems to happen every now and then with the replay vs. settings screen. It happens with the S2000 LM Race Car I run in SGT. It also happened last week with the S2000 Type V jumping from 288hp on the settings screen to 289hp on the replay. I bet the game rounds up when the horsepower rating is say 288.7hp vs. 288.4 which maybe it would round down for. Just speculation on that last part though.

Very enjoyable combo, Jerry. 👍

First 15 laps

18.171
49.931

Edit: almost forgot. First dozen or so laps before lunch produced
19.656
53.283

Oh hell there goes lunch.

18.923
52.261

Another great combo. This is just more fun than I can stand. Can't predict any outcomes but I suspect There will be many laps run by all this week.:)

Love this car and what a cool track. 👍 Good to hear you are running strong, Kenny. :)

Nice Niels, what gear did you use?

I did 18.462\50.475 with 240.

Cool combo Jerry, lots of corners on a rather small track with a great car.👍

Thanks for the heads up, guys. 👍

I just want to make a slight change to the deadline. I have re-set the submission deadline to 9pm GMT instead of 10GMT

Submission Deadline Change:
9PM GMT Monday 28th January

240. But it was the first I tried so not much testing behind it. :dopey:

great. i grew to like autumn ring after all the races and wrs weeks located there, and the cz3 car is a bugger we used (and liked) earlier in wrs also 👍 👍 👍 hopping in the car right now :)

Ta very much, old chap
i wonder what this week's title stems from. 'ta' is thanks aussie-style i know but the steward lives in england now doesn't he?
the old chap must be sjaak of whom he prolly knows to like rally-like combos ...

what i really wanted to ask the steward is whether or not he is planning to re-install the photocomp, or if we are allowed to make pic-suggestions to use for the results thread ourselves?

interj. Chiefly British.

Used to express thanks.

Ta pronunciation = Tar...

...Oh never mind. lol

Anyone is welcome to post a pic-suggestions in this thread and I'll pick one to place into the results thread. 👍

You rock so hard Sphinx ma man.

Or something.

I love this car, and have been campaiging for it since Kent used to set the races. (ask him)

I will have to give it a go.

TA very much
:trouble:👍

Back to the DFP, here are my splits (top speed 240)
18.164
49.703

Looks like another addicting race, this car is very sticky and handles well, when not power understeering. The brakes are great (sometimes overly good and the car goes crazy). Let's see how we can handle the complex sequences of corners of autumn ring in this little beast.

I didn't even remember the new deadline when submitting for the previous race, I thought it was still 6PM GMT :dopey: but it's the same for me, because I can't wait to try the new combo on Mondays (and on Sundays as well, when the race is posted earlier), and usually by that time I have reached a satisfactory time for the ending week.

Edit (after next post): and there go my 5 minutes on top of the board... :D A record?

This is sweet! .. so far i'm at 17.820 / 49.524

my T1 is pretty decent but losing at T2 by about .2 I reckon ( seen a few sloppyish 49.4's ) and after T2 I lose another few tenths so will have some more laps when I have a chance 👍

Getting the turn speed in this one is tricky, to much and you loose all speed out the turn as the power just dosen't get put down.

First splits for me 18.129/ 49.794 (250 gearing) it feels better to me

Yes, this is a track I have lots to learn on so I'll give this one a go.

My first 30 min session and is anyone else experiencing racing HELL in that downhill right like me? I just can't seem to get it right, everything else feels in place, tips anyone? I'm at 240 and shifting WAY early cause she purrs better ;)

T1 - 18.000
T2 - 50.017 (losing .3 in that downhill right area I bet, I keep gettin' her on all fours and more tire noise means more time ticking on the clock :ouch:)
Final - Will try to better tackle this after I sort out T2, those bumps seem much easier the other direction imo.

The only thing I have that might help is that this week is all about lateral g-force. Last week, the fastest drivers seemed to minimize their vertical shift in order to keep momentum through the turns. This week seems to be about being able to handle the "yaw" of the car.
Meaning that the fastest drivers will maintain the rpm's while losing traction, while most of us seek traction first and then look for acceleration out of the turn. The "yaw" refers to the car pointing in one direction while traveling in another.
So, brake early but not so hard, and ride the acceleration out of every turn, being sure to not to lose position for the next turn. Simple, right? :sly:

Fun stuff.

18.044
49.911

Back with more in a couple minutes I'm sure. :sly:

the board is filling up nicely guys!
very addicting combo once you get a feel for the rythm thru those curves.
EDIT updated up to post 27 39
new splits: 19.357 - 51.997

Chuck, while I'm sure you are 100% correct you've just given me a major headache, either that or I drank too much Woodford last night, or both!

First session:

18.251
50.153

Using 240

This is a great combo. It does seem like sideways is quicker so long as the engine is in the right rev range to keep the speed up. So far, the first left and then the uphill right and left before T2 are the only turns where I'm not finding sliding to be beneficial.

OK I think it's a good combo to run (I love the CZ-3, Especially the rally version)! Here's my first set o' splits:

T1: 18.371
T2: 50.283

Just enjoying the endurance/grip balance of the Medium Racing Tyres (R3).

EDIT: gotta go back to the track!!

I think I'll like this combo and I'm a little more comfortable running this track in reverse.

My first short session:

18.688

50.843

👍

Hey Am I the first to pull high 17's in T1? Because my second set of splits has it!!

T1: 17.994
T2: 50.199 (Lost 0.5 sec. at the downhill!! Grrrrr!!!)

EDIT: Grrrr! Grr Grr Grrrrr!!! GRRRR!!!
