Nice combo there sjaak , reminds me of licence tests 👍
I'm not sure yet that if I'm using the right MX-5 thought.
Just because there are so many of them.
Atleast the specs are correct and the track is right.

anyways, here is the split for others to chase.

T1 44.321
T1 43.788
Yes ,it can be confusing.

Just like the tires :sly:
But the car can be bought at the Mazda dealer as Mazda MX-5 1800 RS (NB,J) '04.

However the replay will show - Mazda MX-5 1800 RS (J) '04 -
Thanks for clearing it up

And thanks for checking my ARCAT Race Series replay recently 👍

T1: 42.725

Had 42.458 but in my newer lap I did that extra part of the track and ending a lot better.

Probably 42.1 is there, and .8 overall, but doing it cleanly is very tough.

Great car, been using this same car in the MX-5 Cup that just started :)

Gave it a first spin tonight. Fun drive :)

44,732 so far

tried this one before my first cup of coffee this morning.

44.715

interesting combo Sjaak!!

After coffee:

44.650

There's more out there for sure

Quick update: 44.295

Has a very hairy moment in it, but I do believe it's clean. I'll let Andy take a look at it tomorrow.

Are the light green sections considered out?

I think they are just part of the track because they are hard surface
instead of grass/sand.

I think I know what section you have driven on that green part.
I also went alot on the green stuff before learning how to drive that
section faster.

This challenge seems to be all about grip and weight shifting

here's my newest split:

T1 43.425

I've seen a 43.1xx on that 1st sector but got no idea how
jmgyro did those 42.725 and 42.458 at T1. Is it just a typo or is it matter of NTSC > PAL again???

My gracious me, if this car were any more tail-happy, it'd be a dog!

Your question is legit but in the rules nothing is mentioned about light green sections are part of the track.

So normaly they are out but because I didn't specific mentioned these areas by making the race ,it is ok to use them.

But only in the light of GT5P :sly:
In online racing it is allowed to race it without a penalty.

But correct me if I am wrong.

Nice time. I'm not sure if the versions are different, but I'll just put up what I did for each turn.

--------Speed(mph)-------Speed(kmh)
Turn 1: 109---------------175.381
Turn 2: 36----------------57.924
Turn 3: 49----------------78.841
Turn 4: Max---------------Max
Turn 5: 56----------------90.104

For all turns brake enough beforehand or it slides off course badly. For turn 1 if your stable enough your tires won't slide at all. Have had this corner at 113 mph and no sliding at all, but was 50/50 going that quick there so it's easier going a bit slower.

Turn 2 is very annoying since you are usually not going the same speed as your last run, 36 mph is generally good, anywhere around there as long as you have a nice brakepoint.

Turn 3 is probably the toughest to do quick since again it's usually not in the same spot as your previous run. Seems easiest to do with some brake+accel, can do this corner with only slight sliding. Did it fairly well, but I had been going 51 mph~ which had a few car lengths ahead.

Turn 4 is just a max speed turn.

Turn 5, best to brake soon enough to cut the rumble+green strip. If you aren't braking soon enough it's very easy to slide off while going real slow so you have to go even slower to hang on. Can do around 60 mph+ if you have a great brake point, but is easier to do going a bit slower.

Hope that helped.

My first split!! :sly:

44.185

Sjaak, great job of replicating what we face on Prologue, which I believe was your intent. 👍

I'll be back here, but this one did have a nice finish. :)

BOARD Update. 👍

I've been actually doing exactly what you were quiding.
I checked my top 2 replays.

Here my turn specific lowest speed peaks

T1 43.425 ----------------- 43.115

1st turn 110 mph --------- 107 mph
2nd turn 37 mph ---------- 37 mph
3rd turn 46 mph ---------- 45 mph
4th turn max (87 mph) ---- max (87 mph)
5th turn 55 mph ---------- 56 mph

I don't think the difference would be in shifting
as I rev up to max of the rev meter before shifting gears.
And I never use the 6th gear thought it's there.

The T1 43.115 is from my other, slightly slower lap

Only difference I can see in some turn speeds would be
the amout of grip availeble.

I'm not saying that the NTSC version would posses more grip
on this car on this specific track than the PAL version.
But just thinking about it makes me smile. :D

I will keep on pushing my limits further to see more clearly.

Sjaak, great job of replicating what we face on Prologue, which I believe was your intent.

I'll second that.

My first split.

44.971

I have a 44.6xx on a dirty lap, but I'm at a loss with this combo and my time shows it. :grumpy:
I may be too tired while attempting laps though. We'll see.

1st turn 110 mph --------- 107 mph
2nd turn 37 mph ---------- 37 mph
3rd turn 46 mph ---------- 45 mph

It is probably mostly the 3rd turn then. In mine I barely have the left 2 tires on the rumble to make it so I can hold more speed. As I said before though I had been going a couple more mph quicker there and was ahead by a couple more car lengths so if you are going slower by a few mph that is probably the cause. It takes a few different strategies there to see what works best.

*looks around on the leaderboard*
...
Still no other Div3-ers?? Come on, guys, what's keeping you? :)

Anyway, I had another go and came up with a pretty good lap (imo) which will be difficult to improve upon.

T1: 43.807

Thanks for this great combo, Sjaak. Simply loving every single minute of it :D

This combo isn't really my thing, but I'll try to get some laps done.

First although its doubtful on two turn. I'll probably will not submit this lap but I hope to get a faster lap before the deadline :).

T1: 43.812

I haven't done one in a while and this one looks fun, so I gave it a try. Took me at least 10 laps to get a clean lap. I didn't realize how hard it would be to un-learn my braking points after 130R or going wide after the hairpin to take the extra part.

T1: 45.912

I think I can get that down to a 44.9XX with another session, which should put me solidly in last place.

I went and got a 44.958... and then forgot to take the extra part. I'll try again tomorrow.

This is a tough one

43.687

130R and Degner are particularly tough to be consistent - microscopic differences in steering angle or brakes seem to be what separates the quick way through and a spin out.

It is a tough one indeed. I've got a new T1:

43.836

But this one only counts when it is enough for wheels to touch the outside (inside?) of rumble strips. I have had faster, and clean, T1s (43.6xx), but those times got me so excited that I screwed-up in the next sector.

edit> I got this improvement by using TCS & ASM. I guess I'm not good enough to do otherwise. :(

edit 2> new time and now a certain a clean lap (in my humble opinion):

T1: '43.440

Ran another session this morning and got a 43.837 a the split. But it's a pretty solid lap overall, not sure whether I'll improve on it, but I'll give it a shot, probably tomorrow. 👍

I rerun the track in hope of improvements in line , but nothing big came up.
I was able to improve my lap time thought.

had a T1 43.1xx and a magical 2nd sector.

Propably won't break to the 42.x at T1 but I'm fine with this one.
If no more improvement for me is availeble I will submit tonight.
