Not many of us reached the finish line safely, while some even gave up without trying the combo. Congrats to those who submitted, and big congrats to all division winners. 👍

As you noticed, I still used the division system in the official results ^.

Here are the same results using 3 different systems mentioned in the poll.

Gold/Silver/Bronze system
The fastest times are gold, the average, silver and the slowest bronze without any notion of division. This was my original plan but after the debate going on in the poll thread, it looks to me that we are losing something great if we switch to this method.

  1. 1'37.809 - kart.no.38
  2. 1'37.978 - hOt6o4bOi
  3. 1'38.171 - holl01
  4. 1'38.345 - Toffe
  5. 1'38.677 - MinorShunt
  6. 1'39.506 - Casio
  7. 1'39.550 - shockwaveracing
  8. 1'39.901 - ROB 256R
  9. 1'39.932 - MisterWeary
  10. 1'39.942 - jump_ace
  11. 1'40.457 - SHigSpeed
  12. 1'40.653 - bigrew
  13. 1'40.794 - sar593
  14. 1'40.895 - sjaak68
  15. 1'40.897 - KLR142
  16. 1'41.004 - NielsG
  17. 1'41.244 - flat-out
  18. 1'41.438 - les3002
  19. 1'42.476 - Kent
  20. 1'42.526 - ballstothewall
  21. 1'42.858 - Drew22
  22. 1'45.631 - BuzzOrHowl
  23. 1'46.033 - Soyfu
  24. 1'51.610 - peterjford

Parallel system
The division system is still used, and in addition to that all driver names are colored depending on their G/S/B ranking, as described above. The problem is that gold times are mainly div 1 and bronze ones div 3, which doesn't bring much to the existing division system.

Division 1 :
  1. 1'37.809 - kart.no.38
  2. 1'37.978 - hOt6o4bOi
  3. 1'38.171 - holl01

  7. 1'39.942 - jump_ace
  8. 1'40.457 - SHigSpeed
  9. 1'42.476 - Kent
Division 2 :
  1. 1'39.506 - Casio
  2. 1'39.901 - ROB 256R
  3. 1'39.932 - MisterWeary

  11. 1'46.033 - Soyfu
Division 3 :
  1. 1'40.653 - bigrew
  2. 1'41.438 - les3002
  3. 1'45.631 - BuzzOrHowl
  4. 1'51.610 - peterjford

Nested system
Divisions still exist in this system too, and the G/S/B system is here used within each division. The purpose is to create an semi-automated promotion/demotion system. This is the system that I prefer so far, although I don't have a satisfying calculation method... yet.

  1. 1'37.809 - kart.no.38

Any input is welcome, here or in the poll thread[/B].

I feel a bit guilty cause I really gave up trying after two short sessions, the first race of yours Cyril that I didn't care for. Love the track, hate the ride. And why oh why reverse at George, I know it forward very well, reverse not at all.....yet!

You don't have to feel guilty or sorry or whatever. I'm not disappointed when someone doesn't like a combo, it's simply part of the game. I would never expect that everybody would always like all my combos :scared:

As for George, I expect most of us to know the forward track pretty well and the reverse one not at all. The purpose of the WRS being, besides having fun, to discover combos that we would never have raced otherwise, reverse was the obvious choice :D

YES a SILVER BABY!!! AND not last place....not too bad for another whopping 2 hours of work, eh?

Don't take my comments as complaining Cyril, I'm gonna enjoy learning George in reverse. It'll only add to the many new experiences I've enjoyed here at WRS. I just hate the Zonda...always have.

Still like your original proposal but whatever's decided is fine.

I thought this combo was cool, I like when we use sport tyres. Here's my replay

Woah! I'm very surprised i got a podium. TBH i put minimal effort into this weeks race what with christmas and everything. Anyway, well done everyone who stuck it out; it was another tough one. Here's my replay (PAL):

I just went through in 3rd as smoothly as I could because my foot felt like led this week!

Congrats to all the podiums. Some really great time again this week. 👍

I'm not much for admitting it Cyril, but I actually kind of enjoyed this one. :dopey: Glad though I stopped, while it still was fun, plus that I had other races to relax with. ;)

And why oh why reverse at George, I know it forward very well, reverse not at all.....yet!

That exact reason of course is my guess. ;)
Many a times were my choices made based on giving all of us a challenge and not just more of the same. :sly:

Different note:

Generally speaking, I'm suprised by how "slow" this car was for me.

In the "N,S,R" time trial I set up, there is a S3 equipped M3 that I can pull around the track at roughly 1'47... That's not much slower than the Saleen for nearly the same effort.

Suprises me to say the least.

Anyway, great racing with you all.
Have fun next week.

 to all who stayed with it and got the job done. 👍

Congrats to all as usual 👍 👍 👍

Option three is great, loads of golds, lots of silvers and not too many bronzes!

That's the way to go Cyril!

And I wasn't last any way it was worked out, cool!

Was pretty sure I would be rock bottom this week, guess not!

shockwaveracing
congrats to kart for making it another different winner instead of the "Usual Suspects"...
Except that he won last week too, so he's on his way to join the Usual Suspects Club :D

Just watched Rob's replay and it's clean as a whistle, very smooth and controlled lap too 👍

Wow, 4th in division at my first week of work, I'll have to find a way to get a Max Drive :indiff: , I'll need one soon.

Congrats to all. Nice win kart no.38. You are on a roll.

Special congrats to the 4th place finisher. Sweet run there Toffe. 👍

IMHO, I say we go for the 'Nested' system. Looks to be better for everyone, that way we dont eventually end up with just 2 divisions (theoretically (sp?) of course). And it even adds a little drama, no?

Ok, I've created my Play-Asia account to purchase my maxdrive (They are in stock for the first time I've ever seen too). Unfortunetly, I don't have my bank account number and internet banking passwords and stuff on me. So I'll have to wait until possibly sunday to order it, when my mother gets back from half way across the country. (Being an accountant, she takes care of my money, or lack of as the case is at the moment).

However, if I order it at the eariest possible date on sunday, it will aparently take 7 - 14 days to arrive. The later probably much to late to keep this thread/results open. So if you want to 'Unconfirm' time me this week that's cool. Hopefully it will be the last week it will happen. I can always keep this replay and post it at a later date as well.

If you're in the process of buying a Max Drive, we will wait for your replay until you can provide it. You've had enough 'unofficial' times, there's no need to add another one.

But I'd really like if someone NTSC could check the 2 remaining replays from week 36. (Nothing to do with Casio's point, but I'd like to be able to move week 36 to the archive.)

Wish I had heard that request a little sooner. :(
I used the Sharkport yesterday to get several replays posted (3 Ring laps for .de and the gtp LB).

Sorry but I don't think I will be using it again for some time... Maybe though, but no promises. :sly:

Regarding the systems posted and being discussed and what not...
I know this is a subject for the other thread so I will make it short.

All of them seem fine to me (although I think sticking to the plain old system we have now is the way to go based on the resistance everything else got).

However, I want to stress one thing that's odd about the Nested system...

I think it would be a bad idea to place me in division 3.
Likewise, I think it would be a bad idea to use any system that places me in division 3.

I would hate to ruin the races for all the D3 racers.
I know my last performance seems like it should place me in division 3 but if you think about the past events I have competed in and then look at the fact that I was driving the Saleen...

There is a good chance that moving me into D3 would simply put-off a bunch of D3 drivers and at the same time, move me down 2 divisions even though I would still always be racing against the whole group and not any one specific division.

Basically, regardless of this week's results (week 37) I am still too fast and experienced to be a division 3 racer (I think).

I don't mean to sound rude about that... It's not like that.

I'm just trying to stick up for what I think is right, and to me, it would be wrong to place me in D3 so that all the D3 racers would have to beat me to get a win.

Of course, I might not be as fast as I think. :p

In any case, using the Nested system would certainly have me in every division by the end of next year.

Just mentioning that so there is something to think about. 👍

Such has never been my intention ; there has to be a little misunderstanding here.
According to the "nested" system, your time gets a "bronze".
That doesn't mean you'll be instantaneously kicked into div 3. Not at all.
That only means that your time is noticeably slower than the average time in your div. (√2/2·σ for those who care). In this case the car choice is part of the reason for that.
I'm planning to use a kind of extra-bronze to show times extremely slower than the division average (3·√2/2·σ for the math freaks).
And someone who finished twice in the extra-bronze should definitely consider a demotion to the lower div.
FYI, only Soyfu in div2 got such an extra-bronze this week.

But since I want to test my formulas (formulae ?) further, I didn't plan to mention all this right now and even Soyfu is not gonna be demoted either.
I'm busy checking my calculation with the results of weeks 30 to 36, and I'll see within one or 2 weeks if it can be applied or not.

Congrats to all who climbed the hill. 👍

Fun race Cyril.

Cool deal "f.o."

I knew you wouldn't put me in D3 (as I am sure you knew it wouldn't be the right place for me).

That said, if I was to consistantly put down times that "slow" I would definately take a demotion to D2.

Thing is, I would still compete as if I were D1.

I suppose my performances always come down to the combo and how much time I put in. :p

All things considered, I think you (f.o.) have done an excellent job of highlighting the various attributes of each system whether they be positive or negative. 👍

On a final note:
Congrats to all of you who put in the time, effort, and skill to get this race completed.
Regardless of the time you finished with, this week's race was one heck of a test.
